Convicted murderer Dee Dee Moore denies killing lotto winner
Your statement: So why do we want our winners running the gauntlet, having their privacy, and their dignity stripped from them? is so true. I just don't understand the need for a winner to go through such hell. Even if you're not as vulnerable like poor Abraham Shakespeare was, you'd have to put up with a lot of intrusion and unpleasant situations. It's like they just throw you to the dogs, for their publicity machine. Australia gives lottery winners the option to remain anonymous and just ab

If you win $1M or more, would you let LP members know about it?
Hi mypiemaster, I'm torn on this question. Most likely I would keep it to myself. First off I wouldn't want to make anyone to feel bad if they continue to play and have losses. On the other hand it would be great to know that someone from this site won that amount. The one negative thing about a huge lottery win is the fact that in my state I can't be anonymous. I really do not want to be inundated with mail from people all over the place asking for money. I want to help my family and friends

7 state lotteries join forces for multi-state raffle
If I remember right, rdgrnr, not all of Ohio was Yankee during the War of Northern Aggresion. Of course, not all of Tenneessee was Secesh, so........ (East Tennessee), then there was those fellows wearing butternut, too, so.... Re; A multi-state raffle, won't it be interesting if a state that allows winners to remain anonymous joins in a multi-state affair. We have that now with PB and MM but I'm not sure about raffles.

Before You Ever Think of Winning, Better Check GOOGLE First...
Whenever I google people I know, usually their Facebook profile comes up on the first results page. That is one of the reasons I left FB in May 2012 and have not looked back. I also got tired of reading updates such as oh I'm at CVS, woop woop! or Just about to take a bath, anybody wanna join me? o_O Anyways trying to be completely anonymous in this interconnected era is an exercise at futility. You would have to not own a car, pay all your bills in cash and have to use someone elses name to

Poll: First person to win a $1 Billion JP
Coin Toss: What are the 4 anonymous states? (And where are they listed here so I can find it another time?) I think in NC we can do an LLC, which is what I would do. I honestly pity famous people. I would never want to be one of them.

Largest Jackpot Ever
If you were to win The Largest Jackpot Ever, say $1 billion, there would be incredible publicity. As we all know, everytime the jackpot approaches the record, the media will remind everyone that, your name, winner of the largest jackpot ever ... blah, blah, blah, and you're back in the spot light. How do you handle it? Being anonymous is not an option.

Pa. woman claims winning $131.5M Powerball ticket
Never heard that expression .............. Pin money ........until now ........ From what I read , the best thing to do is .......plan , and hide so the world doesn't see you , or move to a state that's anonymous . The sooner you plan and turn in the ticket better off you're????

Record Powerball winner offers $2M to fix Maine high school's roof
I don't think anyone thought he said it to be malicious. But perhaps somewhere in between being told he would get the money and calling the press to let them know, the definition of anonymous should have entered his head. This certainly isn't about the paparazzi following her around and relaying everything she does. That's completely different than calling someone and telling them she's willing to help the school out but she doesn't want it publicized and that school not adhering to her wish

Woman who let Powerball winner go ahead of her has no regrets
It was for the may 31st drawing, the ticket was sold at a place called Vineland truck stop. So the winner could be from out of state, lot of people from Delaware use that road to get to Atlantic city. But I don't know why someone from Delaware would buy MM in Jersey when you can claim anonymous in Delaware.

Winner of record $590.5 million Powerball lottery jackpot announced
I think this is one of the best parts of their whole plan: They just walked right through the door, Dougherty said. They didn't give anyone a heads-up. We were just as shocked as anyone else. They went up to our front desk to check in to see what they needed to do. They didn't give the lottery folks a chance to spring the media on them when they arrived. The winner her entourage show up at the counter, fill out their paperwork and leave. That's as minimal as you can get it if y
