Florida city still wondering: Who won the $590M lottery jackpot?
Whoever this person is, if they dont claim it this week then they either lost the ticket, dont know they won, or not very smart because then they waited a month+ to receive the money because it takes at least two weeks for it be reach a bank account. I still remember the Georgia Jackpot where there was ~70M unclaimed and with such a huge Jackpot who knows where the ticket may be..the Lottery HQ hasnt even received an anonymous phone call so this person is in trouble IMO. I would hate to see

If you won either the MM/PB JP: How soon would you claim your prize?
Claiming using a blind trust is reason enough to justify needing a lawyer because with a blind trust you won't know how much money you have and where and how it's invested. Blind trusts are usually used by Legistlators so they won't be accused of creating legislation to benefit their financial holdings. The only benefit of claiming anonymous is your name won't be published, but the name and location of the store selling the ticket will be published. The people at the lottery will know your bu

If you won either the MM/PB JP: How soon would you claim your prize?
I don't need a financial planner, I do that myself. What I do need is a lawyer for the trusts and such, estate ect I need an accountant for the total tax due before I start investing. Lawyers will also charge by the hour to set up a trust. You also need to interview them. I'm also lucky in that a family member's husband is a lawyer in another state so they will know what to ask and look for. My state allows you to be anonymous so that's where the blind trusts come in. If i win I am telling no

lf you won the Big One:Would you have the stones to tell the rest of us so- Y/N?
Well you're still paying a huge chunk of taxes if you take the lump sum. And every year afterwards if you do any investing in the form of capital gains taxes and all that. Name change will be a huge hassle, at least here in the USA, and you have to go through the courts and then you have to change all your driver's license then back...too much. I did read that you can setup an corporation in your name and then have a representative of the corporation claim the prize for you, and that's o

Rating threads
Yeah, but I was asking for a way to undo that. It is kind of confusing to have the same graphic of 5 stars function differently at the list of topics than it does from within a topic. I usually log out frequently to prevent inadvertent clicks. I guess my brain is just trained to places like Netflix, where you have the same 5 stars and you can change your 5 star rating anywhere or clear your rating if needed. And I'm not really interested in seeing *who* rated, but how many and of which type.

if "someone" found a way to beat the lottery wheel-would you label that cheating?
Who says I use a ... ummm ... I mean maybe a machine wouldn't be necessary. Maybe it's just something I ... um ... people would do using only their bodies or minds. I'd go forward and get the Powerball numbers for the draw Christmas night, then come back and buy a few 5 + 0 tickets in several different states (so the pari mutuel doesn't kick in for any single state) with the megaplier and give those to a few friends for Christmas presents. And I'd buy the 5 + 1 ticket for myself in a state wh

Would you remain Anonymous or have a Press Conference after winning the Jackpot?
I would choose to remain anonymous. Winners have enough to deal with without all the added worry/pressure of relatives, friends. strangers asking for money. Also, just the added rick of people harming you because you now have money. We all have read the horror stories. I know that the California lottery, in their media releases, have stated the winner wishes to remain anonymous. I have seen it many times but the problem is that if anyone asks, the Lottery will release the winner's name becau

Cali Powerball players: How much wagering for first draw?
Just splurged on this first draw because it's the first Powerball in CA. After this, will only have 1 line on each PB draw unless the jackpot is over $200M or so. I figure there are probably a lot of other people doing the same thing, buying a lot more than they normally would on the inaugural PB draw. That's kinda the reason for the poll. But now wondering why there are so many discards.(anonymous haters?) Only saw long lines of people on the news, when the reporters go to those lucky liq

how many people play lottery?
I think such statistics is pretty difficult to obtain accurately since most lottery players, with the exception of those who win $600 or more, are anonymous. You have no idea if 100 million tickets bought last year came from a million people or 10 million people for example. The only reliable statistics we can obtain is how much money Americans spend on lottery each year and from that we can estimate how much, on average, we spend on lottery per adult. But not every adult plays a lottery a
