We went out to dinner early last night and the party at the next table was doing a toast to winning the Mega Millions. They were apparently a part of a lottery pool. I wonder if the Maine winner was actually a group buy.

Was part of a pool and we managed to hit 5 out 6 and won $1500 a couple of times playing Ohio Super Lotto. The group had 30 players so it was more about trying to win the jackpot than staying in the game winning secondary prizes.

Sorry, but too many people in that pool to justify being in it. I wonder how much time Bernie Bossert Jr. spent on this each week. In 7 years the biggest win previously was 200.00. Not impressed.

Jerry and Marge and the MIT team actually added to the lottery profits. They won money from the overall prize pool. Just don't see how having only one ticket winning around $500 million convinces people to buy tickets on the first ten drawings after a jackpot is won.

It's hard to believe that with all those tickets being played there was no winner. Thousands were sold. It seems like when the jackpot has reached the desired pool size they hit the stop button despite the drawing being random number generator.
