If you win and you plan to remain anonymous: You do know...
lets say you win Powerball you havent gone and cash the ticket yet but you call to lottery office to let them know...i dont know about cell phones but you do know that there are people who listen to the state/countrys phone calls and they are not the government [who knows cell phones too]...why??? because is like computer hacking, if they listen to phone calls they can know a lot about people and about people's secrets...when you call the state lottery and tell them you have the winning ticket,

$245 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot increased
The answer to the Lottery Curse is anonymity. Hire a lawyer and use a blind trust if your state will allow it. Some state lottery officials say you can't be anonymous, but their state law may say otherwise. Fight to remain anonymous. Live in an enclosed community. If you can't collect your winnings anonymously, then you really are set to receive the Lottery Curse. One answer to the Lottery Curse if you can't remain anonymous is to... become a lawyer. Yes, that's right. If you can't bet 'em, join

...the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.
The above was in a state lottery press release. This is what I like about Australian state lotteries, winners can remain anonymous. I think it is madness for US lotteries to require winners to go public, in many cases it has negative consequences for the winners.

Claiming Anonymous in California Lottery
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I already searched the forum before posting. Similar topics were already closed, so I couldn't bump or reply to them. I called the 800 number for California Lottery today and spoke to a lady. I asked if it's possible to claim a prize with a blind trust. She didn't really give me a direct answer. She said in California their obligated to disclose the winner. Ok, I understand that. But my question was about claiming it anonymous by using the trust's name. She gave

Hey guys, I forget which states you can claim the Mega Millions and Powerball anonymously. Need help
Delaware sells Powerball and allows you to remain anonymous (state law allows this). Maryland sells Megamillions and allows you to remain anonymous. However, I don't think there is a state law protecting the anonymity of winners. So if a reporter were to file a Freedom of Information Act request the winners identity may be revealed. This recently happened to a winner in Kentucky who wanted to remain anonymous.

N.Y. lottery winner and tenant fight thief
People do NOT need to know that you are wealthy...it is NONE of anyones business, especially the press, how much someone is worth.I like to read about winners as much as the next guy,but some things are flat nobodys business. If a person wants to share their personal business with the entire world, fine, thats their choice. However,if person prefers to remain anonymous, that should also be their choice. When I win the lottery I'll be forced to go through the media B.S.However,as soon as I get my hands

Lottery winner demonstrates the right way to claim a big jackpot
What a minute, this woman won this in IL where they DON'T allow you to remain anonymous, I didn't know you could still make legal entities, so it turns out that in a way you can still remain anonymous, that's cool. Everybody's been sayin that when you cant remain anonymous you also cant create legal entities and it turns out that it's the opposite. In the immortal words of Barney Stinson - Awesome

'Infrequent buyer' claims $34M Powerball lottery jackpot
It's no fun if you don't get to know who won. Maybe they could make the store anonymous also, I mean are they sure they want hordes of people beating the doors down to buy tickets at the new lucky location and maybe buying out all the milk, etc.? It should go with the territory, you want to play, you want to win, you don't get to keep it secret.. what if someone wins and they owe money or child support? What if it's someone I know? Someone being stingy with me maybe they won and aren't telling
