Star Trek Lottery - would you play it ?
I appreciate your replies. I just think the Lotteries are growing at incredible size and scope, I wonder where it will end up. Will it stop at $1B ? Will they cap the prizes and socialize the event ? Will they go global ? Its amazing how people here and outside the US love the game, despite of its imperfections and hints of corruption. I just wonder where the future lies.

If you won either the MM/PB JP: How soon would you claim your prize?
With the current instability, ineptitude and corruption rampant in the scandal-plagued US government, I'd take the lump sum the nano-second it became available. They are already admitting to plans to make direct withdrawals from our bank accounts for Obamacare so there's no telling what they're capable of with your large sum of money. It's best to get it out of their hands as soon as humanly possible before they come up with new reasons to keep it or skim some more off the top or keep the who

Loopholes allow some Michigan lottery winners to stay on welfare
Good point. Would that we could stop the corruption in every strata though.

Georgia Lottery board member resigns citing pressure to hire new director
Even though she did not say it out loud, I think the lady believes favoritism is going on. Where there is favoritism, corruption will soon follow. If the lottery board cannot operate independently and make suggestions and recommendations about open positions, then who is to say that the lottery itself is not crooked? The Governor seems to favor this new woman(who is to be the lottery director) and her husband. If the lottery has not made a profit in 3 years, then either player expendable income

Illinois Lottery superintendent at odds with private manager of lottery
Kinda funny seeing Illinois concerned about possible corruption, cheating or misappropriation of funds. They practically invented it.

Woman arrested for trying to fake jackpot winning lottery ticket
I agree she is a dim-numb-nut. Chicago tends to be home of the crooked and corrupt. Guess that is a side effect of being a bastion of blue. I won't be surprised if corruption and voter fraud surfaces in November, but I am surprised Oby and the Dems haven't proposed a special extra 10 percent jackpot lottery winner surcharge as a way to fund his monstrosity of a healthcare law and bring a warped sense of fairness to all those who play and don't win the lottery. I am just glad the lottery commissi

Lottery winner who kept cashing welfare checks charged with fraud
What about all those bank bailouts? I think that's much worse. What about all those big businesses that are subsidised and some still even had to fold up the tent. We have so much rampant corruption in our government why is this such a big deal?

Winners of big lottery jackpots often crave anonymity amid challenges to do so
Well, when you see the parade of winners are people like T. Ramirez, Willy Johnson, Leroy Wilson, Han Ko, Tom McIlroy, etc. it lets us Illinoisians know that the anonymous winners like folks like Rahman Emmanuel, Barack Obama, Pat Quinn, Rachel Quinn, Sasha Obama, Joe Biden, or any of the Daly or Blagoaviche family. Hardly a year can pass in Illinois without someone not being indicted for corruption. Just because something bad happened to one guy does not mean the ultimate winner against astrono

Winners of big lottery jackpots often crave anonymity amid challenges to do so
Following your line of thinking, if corruption reins supreme in Illinois, who's to say that showing the faces and names aren't a scam as well? If that is the case, how will this reassure you that the lottery still isn't a scam?

Would you be in favor of international lottery$
Good point savagegoose, but hypothetically if we could work out the bugs and designate neutral countries to collect and dish out the cash payments, (Such as US, Switzerland, UK, etc.) and corruption were not an issue, do you see a demand for lotto tickets for say $1 or $2 that could command $100 billion jackpots, with 2nd 3rd tier prizes of $500-250 million?
