Store clerk's mistake helps N.Y. man win $10 million
This article is a little confusing. It mentions the winner getting either a guaranteed $10 million or $10k per week for life but later on states that he gets 19 more payments and his family keeps collecting after his lifetime. Is this prize capped at 20 years or was it just a typo when it mentioned the 19 payments?

Indiana woman claims Blue Chip Casino owes her $28M
How could she have won anything. According to the article, she believed she won lots of money, but it's all based on a software glitch with the rewards card screen. In the lower level state gaming office, she filed this complaint Because somebody on the upper level said she had a good case for a lawsuit. I agree with you offering a steak dinner was is generous, but because they can't know what a jury will say, the casino may offer more.

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
They have a short article about the $10 20x Crossword http://www.calottery.com/Media/Press-Releases/Press-Release?Item={EA35A9BD-327E-4AD6-A391-5FE9695A1AD3} I suppose with high volume of playing and these possible outcomes, I will probably avoid any sort of crossword games now. I predict the next $10 game to come out will be another 20x Crossword

22 N.Y. coworkers' complicated journey to claim $1 million prize
OS, I might agree with you in most cases until I read this article from an Atty that made a claim for a couple who won $35 million on the MM back in May 2011. His firm is out of Ft.Worth Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) July 21, 2011 -- In May, the lives of two Texans were changed forever when they won the thirty-five million dollar jackpot in the Mega Millions lottery. Who are these lucky people? Well, unless you are part of their family or circle of closest friends, you are not likely to know. In

Billion dollar lottery in March
Yes, that's true. Forbes misquoted the odds as 1 in 4 trillion something. They got that number from someone else who got it wrong. I read the article you linked but nowhere does it specifically name the odds you posted. It vaguely mentions 67 games which in itself is deceptive. The NCAA tournament starts with 68 teams, but the brackets only contain 64 teams (The First Four round determines which 4 teams are eliminated; this sets the bracket for the tournament). So there are 63 official tourna

Billion dollar lottery in March
Here you go LottoMetro, article mentioning 67 games and final four offer from major news outlet: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-buffett-basketball-bet-20140122,0,7653962.story#axzz2rFiIvXQK Of course, reporters have been known to be wrong before. It could very well just be the standard 63 game bracket. We'll have to wait for the completed official rules, not just the preliminary short form.

Billion dollar lottery in March
Can't beat free, so I yes will be particpating. The prize is $25 million over 40 years, but they are offering the option of $500 million lump sum. They are also going to have 20 runner up prizes of $100,000 towards a house. The article is inaccurate. The odds of winning when each team is given equal (50/50) chance of winning are 1 in 263 That's quintillions. Depending on the picker, the actual odds are much better, but still in the billions/trillions.

Ohio Lottery to sell $30 ticket that offers a chance to win $10 million
After reading through the article, this $30 scratcher game isn't as good as it sounded by reading the title and first few paragraphs. One, it uses annuity values to advertise the two top prizes. Second, the prizes start at $10, considerably lower than the face value of the ticket. It's one thing to advertise scratcher top prizes using annuity values for games that have prizes like $5,000 a week for life but this is misleading. This Ohio $30 game seems more akin to our $20 game. Our advert

saw this article on yahoo.
Right? It says in the article that most of the 10,000 unscratched are expired. You have to imagine most would be more than half, so we're looking at no more than 4,000 unscratched cards. And you have to bet he won't say what games are left unscratched, or else you could look up online to see what amounts are left unclaimed. This does sound like an interesting hobby though if I ever hit a jackpot. I could also pick up other state games during my road trips.

Lottery winner's lifetime of money gone in weeks
It was said in the beginning of the article that the guy was chasing the $500 a week-for-life ticket. NOW, he is chasing the $2,500 a week-for-life ticket. So the guy understands enough about money. Maybe that having money is a good thing. He is probably smart enough to realize $54 a month is peanuts. So he tries to win more by playing the lottery. Then he wins, but he needs help because he has no transportation, or ID. People rip him off, relatives come out of the woodwork, quite normal if you
