Hello My Fellow Lotto Players
How can there be any tax advantage to taking an annuity? Right now the max tax rate is 39.6% for anything over approx $300,000.00 a year. Even if you take the annuity you would still be taxed at the highest tax rate. I will admit that if Bush's plan goes through, it will drop to 33%. But if the Democrates come into power the taxes might go up in a few years. If you took the cash option you could invest in all sorts of tax-free bonds, tax-deferred funds, charitable annuities etc to reduce your ta

WINFALL news
Yeah but guys listen. They are taking the $5,000,000 from Michigan Millions and just throwing it into Winfall. So bam right there is double than what the jackpot annuity is. If someone wins the jackpot in the first drawing they don't get 5 million they get the 2.5 annuity. So that is an extra 2.5 mill that is going to be distributed to lower tier prizes not to mention the amount of money they are going to get from selling tickets for those drawings. With a new game with all this hype I bet

Annuity Option a waste?
Buying lottery tickets is a waste IF the player would rather be paid through an annuity should he/she win.

Jackpot Game Survey
Cashonly: I emailed this message to the MA lottery -webmaster@masslottery.com. Maybe others from MAcan send similar messages and we can see if they get the message.***********Hello,I've been a Megabucks season ticket holder for thelast 8 years. I've become fed up that the Big GameMegamillions and Tri-state Megabucks have cash options, but Megabucks continues to be annuity only. I can see no reason for Megabucks to continue being annuity only, and I ask that the Mass Lottery change it so winners h

Michigan's Winfall
Remember when Ohio limited a single ticket to winning $26 million (annuity value) in the early 1990s, and adding excess jackpot money to the _next_ jackpot rollover series?

our chances are NIL
TG: Unfortunately, there is NO cash option for the Mass. 6/42 (or 6/49) and AFAIK there are no plans to improve either game. I would suggest that when you receive the letter asking you whether you would like to renew that subscription (whatever their procedure is) that you write a polite letter in return telling that you will take out a new subscription ONLY after a cash option is available. There are complications with annuity payments that are avoided when the winner collects in lump sum. NO

Cash Vs. Annunity, revisted
I couldn't tell you. I do know that a lot of the annuity people went broke because they sold their annuity for less that half of what it was worth, then spent it all. The mega million cash option jackpots hasn't been around that long. Time will tell. Personally I would take the cash option and have everything safely invested before I started any major spending. A mansion in every country, and a yacht and a private jet to get me there wouldn't really fit into my lifestyle with three small kids.

Close Encounter guys!!
Get the cash and buy your large purchases first, i.e. house, then put the rest in an annuity.(or tax free bonds, or some other type of low risk investments) That way you get control of your money, and have a guaranteed income. And you don't have to pay a financial advisor to lose all your money in the stock market. However, another thought is that the same financial advisors you find on the internet that suggests the cash option are the same ones that would be making tons of money off you invest
