Opinion: Powerball winners will lose big if they go public
Some states make lottery winners disclose their identities to the public to claim their prize. Not Maryland.
I hope the Maryland lottery winners are wise enough to remain anonymous especially since they have the option.
Nothing good comes from going public.

If you won the lottery, would YOU go on The Lottery Changed My Life?
I remember that 21-year-old pregnant college student who won, at that time, the largest Powerball jackpot ever. She was on the David Letterman Show (when it was still on NBC, so a LONG time ago! 1990's? 1980's?). I always wondered what happened to her (and her kid - and her ex-boyfriend/father of the baby). After that, they would usually have the big winners on his show.
I used to dream about going on the show after winning, but like they say, with age comes wisdom... for some. At least I kno

Record EuroMillions winners in hiding after begging avalanche
It's different when these neighbors are from different countries, simply spamming these people with requests. I think it'd be a lot different if it was just a few neighbors dropping by for help, rather than so much harassment they had to relocate to an unknown location.
Just as this article says... It would be hard not to see this coming. It really was a huge mistake in claiming so early as it didn't give them time to really think How can putting our names out there be a bad idea? . They
