Laid off Oregon man wins $1 million
I am having trouble posting. It might be my internet connection. Anyway, sorry ... I was trying to edit my last comment. Apparently I read another article this morning before signing on, and it said they bid on a home in Calif. Also, please do not misread my post. I said I was happy for them and was only responding to the comment that $670,000 goes a long way in Oregon. I would be thrilled to win all that money. I was only saying that after buying a home, furniture and paying what additional

Millions in lottery winnings go unclaimed each year
I remember reading an article about Bladimir Agnite, a man who bought a winning Mega Millions jackpot ticket in California. One month after the drawing the winner didn't come forward, the California lottery commission decided to post surveillance pictures of Bladimir Agnite buying the ticket all over the newspapers and all over their website. I'd say one month was way too soon but if someone doesn't come forward after 11 months, I think releasing surveillance pictures would be a good idea.

Stunned & in disbelief over last night's Powerball drawing
I believe since I bought tickets in RI that I can't lose That's what Custer said at the Little Big Horn. The other night yahoo news had an article about lotteries and different states. People in North Dakota played the least, people in Massachusetts played the most. Mass. also paid out the most. (I think they were talking state games, not PB and MM).

Honestly would you really care how much taxes you had to pay??
I like your common sense here. Regardless of what goes down, you're gonna pay the government their's, and, especially if you take the lump sum. The gift tax alone is 35% on that option but, as you've said, you'll still have way more money than you really know what to do with after that. It's still a ton of money to put to work and generate even more money without much effort. Taking the (25) payments is good as long as you're somewhat young and take care of yourself...can't account for freak acc

Honestly would you really care how much taxes you had to pay??
The other night Yahoo Finance had an article about the couple in Missouri that won the PB and if they had won after this fiscal cliff situation and it goes 'wrong', it would have cost them an addittinal $17.7M in taxes. That's not exactly chump change. I can't agree with you on this, B2B, since the U.S, taxes gambling winnings while a lot of countries don't. The UK, Canada, Australia, and others, whatever you win is yours. As it should be. Just my $.02

Why Not Converge PB and MM Into a Super Lotto For All States??
If you revisit the article Todd wrote back in April, there is cost saving concept called the National Premium Game . This addresses the waste and duplicate redundant spending by the states, for the PB and MM games. Old dogs can sometimes learn new tricks.

Georgia construction worker collects $50M Mega Millions win
The article reads: Honey, we won the lotto! That's what Zippy Vonier, 55, announced to his wife Wednesday morning after discovering that he won $50 million. And yet Zippy's wife's, Betty Jo, name appears no where on the publicity check! Hum. Congratulations on the big jackpot win though!

$425 MILLION: Largest Powerball lottery jackpot in history
It is easy to get a misguided impression regarding the randomness of the lottery and strategies within, Ronnie. When first reading the official news article, I had the impression Donald only spent 2 dollars, but a picture is worth how many words? 425 million? Anyway you can see by analyzing the ticket, Donald let it ride on power number 49, and also power ball 21. What did he see that I missed? Maybe he used a GH wheel?
