$600 MILLION: Biggest Powerball jackpot ever
Closing in on all-time lottery record By Todd Northrop Only once before has the United States or the world witnessed a lottery-buying frenzy like we are seeing this week. That was in March, 2012, when the multi-state Mega Millions game was busy setting a record for the largest jackpot in world history. This time it's Powerball's turn to make people stop what they're doing and line up for lottery tickets. Powerball tickets are being bought at such a rapid pace that the Multi-State

RE: PB/MM cheating you?
In 1995 it took 12 rolls for the Michigan in-state game to get to $45,851,000 (ref MSL website). 1995 was the year before the multi-state game arrived here. Since the multistate game arrived in Michigan the in-state game jackpots have rolled for longer and longer times and it takes the better part of a year to get to about half that level (23 mil). Currently MI Classic47 has taken 28 rolls to get to its current level of $7.9 Million. Before the Jackpot vampire struck we would easily have

Oklahoma Lottery to add Hot Lotto, TV show
The Oklahoma Lottery plans to start a television game show and offer an additional multi-state game in hopes of improving lower-than-expected revenues. The new television game show would be filmed in Oklahoma City and begin airing in October. Next year, Oklahoma would join ten other states in offering the Hot Lotto game, which features a minimum jackpot of $1 million. Lottery Commission Executive Director Jim Scroggins says he hopes the additions will help generate excitement for the lotte

Will my tickets i bought back on the 20th of feb carry over
Tickets are ALWAYS for the date of the game you are playing, unless otherwise indicated. The only way a ticket would cover more than one draw is if you asked for advanced play and paid for each additional pick. Example: A ticket costs $1. Your state allows 10 advance plays. You pay $10 and check the advance play box for that combination. The only reason the jackpot grows when nobody wins is because people keep spending money to buy tickets and that increases the jackpot size. Some games ro

Partnerships between MUSL and non-MUSL members
As you probably know, GA, KY, and VA teamed up to offer Lotto South. After some colossal mistakes, LS was retired this year, replaced by LOSE for Life. The odd thing about the union is that KY is a MUSL member, while GA and VA, which each offer Mega Millions, are not. (GA was a MUSL member in the mid-1990s, until the Big Game (now MM) began.) Lesser known is that Illinois, which sells MM, loans its pick-3 (and pick-4 I believe) numbers to Iowa, a MUSL state. Iowa pays 60% on numbers bets

Committment To Playing Lotteries
I've been playing the lottery for about 30 years, starting in MA NH and regularly in FL for over 10. NH had the first lottery I can remember (we called it the NH Sweepstakes) and then MA had a Wed night drawing. It cost 50 cents for a lottery ticket then and they called it The Game. My friend's Mom was one of the first winners in 1972. She won $50,000. Mega Millions in MA 25 years ago? I remember MegaBucks in the early 1980s. It started out as a 6/30 game with a minimum $400,000 jackpot.

Texas lottery director stands firm amid attacks
Orangeman: You're on drugs, right? Take any major state lotto game and drop the starting jackpot down to a million dollars. While you're at it, kiss a big chunk of your game sales and profits goodbye (I've made my living in this business - designing games for lotteries including Texas for over 15 years). No one will play a game that starts at a million ini a state the size of Texas. Have you actually seen what happens to sales at the 3 - 4 million level? Do you have any idea how many draws i
