Mega Millions changing June 24 -official
I think it depends on sales. If sales go up then they should just add more money to the next roll so it can go from 12 to 20 faster. As far as the odds go your odds always are bad in a lottery. I didn't win the quinto at $5 million and the odds were only 1:2.6 million, odds are I won't win the Mega or powerball either. It's about hope and the chance to win more than anything.

Ohio Superlotto +, 9-8-04
Good luck to you. You're probably better off not playing the SuperLotto game when you figure the odds of winning $10K is 1:2,330,636 and in MegaMillions the odds of winning $150K is 1:2,649,920 and in Buckeye5 the odds of winning $100 is 1:435,897. If you want the best odds for winning $100-$150K, your dollar is better spent with the latter two.RJOh

Whats your Lottery IQ?
I was refering to odds while you were refering to the probability. And they are different. But for odds,Its the short-term statistics.odds are the inverse of probability so if a formula has calculated the probability, you divide one by that number to get the odds. The most commonly played number combination is 7-14-21-28-35*42. If you won with that number, you would share the jackpot with many, many other players. And Actually, many jackpot drawing results are around 7 -14-21-28-35*42.

Dumb question of the day
I'm told the odds of winning the California lottery is about 1 in 42 million. So, if I buy one ticket my odds are 42 million to one. There are thos who would say that if I bought two tickets, my odds whould be 21 million to 1, or half. Intuitively, how did I eliminate 21 million combinations? If I bout two tickets, wouldn't my odds be 41,999,998 to one, because I've only elimated to possible combinations.

Straight ODDS
How would I be able to tell when it is ok to play straight ODD digits. TN had straight odds 7/21... and 7/7.... was time before... Straight evens have come up twice in that time... Just curious to whether I should play straight odds or evens tomorrow?

Mega Billions!

The odds of matching 6 of 7 for $1M would be 1:23,116,509 and odds are so much better in the lotteries that already exist, for example the Ohio lottery has a jackpot of $21M and the odds of winning are 1:13,983,846 and it's only $1 per play.RJOh

A dilemna.....
Hi Todd,This is how I see it.......The odds against picking correct 5 numbers out of 37 if you play 1 game are 435,896 to 1.......If you play 15 games, the odds are about 29,060 to 1.......If you play 5 games, the odds lengthen to around 87,180 to 1.......Either way, the odds are pretty sizable BUT, as the old saying goes You've got to be in it to win it ......so.......if it were me, I'd take the 6 by 5 route.John

Best Games
Is odds that important for winning? You need me to answer that. Of course the odds matter. You think Powerball would have jackpots over $100 Million if the odds were 1:400,000? It wouldn't because it would be much easier to win. What is easier to hit, a lottery where the odds are 1:135,000,000 or 1:400,000????? You don't need me to answer that.

Probability of a rollover in PB and MM
Quote: Originally posted by 6of6 on February 02, 2004 Thanks for the stats prob, never looked at the odds for the jackpot before, very interesting, But I had my tickets when mm got to that 350 mil mark, that was when it was split 3 or 4 ways , the only thing I remember about that jackpot was ( besides that I didn't win of course) was that one winner was a 18 or 19 year old girl who bought like 5 quick pics at a gas station, never played before and won. Well, as I see it, there are circumstances
