Minnesota Lottery confirms technical communications error delayed $2 billion Powerball drawing
Thanks for the update.
Stuff happens when old, outdated technology is used. We had IBM cards with chads from the 1970's in High school. I think the class was called Automated Data Processing but not 100% sure. It was fun.

Science professor: Webb's images will help develop down-to-earth technology
NASA, ESA, CSA, AND STSCI VIA AP
This image from the James Webb Space Telescope shows the edge of a nearby, young, star-forming region NGC 3324 in the Carina Nebula. NASA calls it cosmic cliffs, and its rich shades of sable brown and sapphire blue are artistic enough that UNLV astrophysicist Jason Steffen says it s something he d hang on his wall as art.

Powerball Card Update Stinks!
I originally figured the old cards should still work because the only change was adding the 3rd drawing. Even though the game itself is the same for each drawing the multi-draw options changed, so we got new slips and machines that won't accept the old ones.
FWIW, I don't know about all states, but in PA the clerk can override the slip and print tickets for any number of drawings. Based on that I've go to figure the only requirement to make the old slips unworkable is policy rather than techn

Powerball Card Update Stinks!
That's really disappointing. In matters like this, a lottery's response should always be to try and understand what has changed, why it is important to players, and consideration of changing back.
From a technology perspective, there is no reason to remove that option. The only reason I can think of would be if the option causes some players confusion when filling out a betslip but that seems pretty far-fetched to me.

UK man says £6.5 million lottery prize was stolen by retailer clerk
It seems az tho the UK are behind the times of Technology.. not having a ticket scanner that playerz can self- check their lottery ticketz...
Maybe a Will Smith moment woulda been in order here ..might've brought in Police to check for his stolen ticket..!!..only to suffer a 10 yr ban from the store..!!

Anyone remember this cartoon from MTV late 90's? The purple guy is her spirit animal that manifested into the real world to help her. Here he's clipping her toe nails. I loved this cartoon so much I looked it up on my dial up AOL internet and found out it was based on a comic book. Bought the comic books and read them all. It's all trippy metaphors and I don't entirely get it, but I love it. The back of each individual issue had a fan letter section and the creator would answer some questions ab

Gaming board tracks down Las Vegas tourist after slot machine failed to inform him of jackpot win
Certainly same technology is used there (probably started in Nevada) as here. They wear cellphone looking devices on their arms, a jackpot is won and it alerts the payout folks. Was talking to one of the ladies months ago and it went off and she said that means somebody won a jackpot and off she went.
Glad the Gaming Board tracked him down. Honesty and integrity wins every time!

Iowa Lottery brings major upgrades to retailer terminals
Looks like Iowa is getting kiosk similar to what Kentucky had for a couple years now. Saw where a KY player hit a pick-4 straight/box Online for $5400. Wonder if they played using their cell phone.
Yep it's very exciting that Iowa is finally starting to use 21th century technology.

Lottery scammer stole nearly $1 million from one elderly woman
IDR what the acronym is for the Government mandate for the phone companies to employ technology to help curb spam calls. It is a shame that the companies could really care less about consumers since they could have done this themselves.
What they do know I've noticed is to take parts of ads for companies to make you think it is legit---sure a local spoofed #. Then you push 1, and VOIP kicks in then they get cussed out or asked how are things in India.
