Multi-state lottery shockwave sweeping America
I'm really happy that NC is getting Mega Millions!
I know it will dilute the pool a bit, but I like them better than Powerball.
Also, I play MM in VA when I drive through, but I don't like that VA won't allow anyone to remain anonymous or allow them to do trusts or LLC's.
So I'm really glad NC is getting into MM!!!

Winning the Mega Millions... hmmm...
No mega millions is not rigged. The security of mega millions is probably better than your local bank branch and rivals that of some museums.
Mega million does not screen the millions of players.
Mega millions does not know who the winner will be before the draw.
Some winners in Maryland prefer to remain anonymous I'm sure they have their reasons like Litebets said Bunky Bartlett won and has been doing all kinds of stuff with his money

The identity of the recent $333M winner in MM
Why has the New York Lottery not divulged the identity or any detail
of the recent split $333M winner (not even so far as to say whether
it's a trust or corporation or whatever)?
These are the reasons I've come up with:
A. There's a dispute between parties as to the ticket's ownership/split.
B. It's suspected to be stolen since claimant can't confirm time of purchase.
C. Claimant lost the ticket but can still prove it otherwise (a receipt).
D. Ticket is damaged, so they a

NY Lottery and Anonymity
Hi all. I'm new here and will post a seperate introduction, but I wanted to ask this question first as it has always been on my mind. I noticed a couple of LLCs have claimed huge prizes in NJ (where I'm from and play). I am wondering, especially in my case, if it would be wise to form a Nevada LLC or Corporation and have the foreign corp claim the prize? Nevada Corps allow owners and officers to be shielded from the IRS and assets can also be hidden (it's almost like going to Bermuda to incorpor

Schedule for "Lottery Changed My Life"
A couple of the Q As on the latest episode was that 33% of jackpot winners are broke within five years of winning and the most common things money is spent on after winning a jackpot is paying off mortgages and travel. I thought it was going to be cars as it seems these programs always show people and their newly purchased dram cars.
Also, a woman in Oregon who won $5,000,000 had to move twice, to completely different towns, because of being harassed and having things stolen. She wound up in

Would you wear a disguise to your press conference?
rundown99
I'm with ThatScaryChick on this.
If it was that easy, and you knew you were going to hit, I think moving to Australia would be the answer, from everything I've read here on LP. Anonymous and tax free, what more could we ask.

Is the fantasy better than reality?
As for me, the money is well spent on the daydreams. I love fantasizing about winning a really, really big one! What I would buy, what I would do, etc.
But then as the hour draws nearer to the actual drawing, I realize I don't really need that much and would probably be better off with an amount that's much smaller. The more money, the more complications - even when anonymous.
I will still play when the numbers get outrageous - and dream about winning it - but knowing second place might be

Schedule for "Lottery Changed My Life"
Everyone here should watch this program.
On tonight's episode they showed the Wicca guy who won $88 million (netted $33), a teenager who won on a scrathcer, invested $550,000 of it in the stock market and had lost $200,000 of that when they show was made, a woman who won a $1.2 million house in a raffle for $50, and a couple in New Zealand.
The first half of the program was all postive, the second half, follow up storis on these people, not so positive.
For all the discussions we've had

NY Lottery and Anonymity
I think the reason why lotteries require press conference and an actual name is for credibility. If everyone was anonymous....sooner or later people who stop playing the lottery out of fear that the system is rigged. Doesn't really make sense since techically a lottery could hire actors to pretend they are winners.
That being said if you truely want anonymity I think a way around the laws is to claim the ticket under a blind trust. That way at the press conference only your lawyer and LLC wi
