$14.3 million lottery winner almost didn't claim prize
The article reads: So Elvord, who said he'll turn 60 in a couple years, took his ticket to the Wisconsin Lottery office to see if he was the winner. The first thing they asked me was, 'Did you make up the ticket?'
Hum, I wonder if any visiting lottery ticket holder has ever answered yes to this BOLD question from a Wisconsin Lottery Headquarters office personnel member?
Also, I wonder what happens if the answer received is Yes. [Does the forgerer get a pat on the head, and perhaps a comp

New Powerball payout table
I found it on the Idaho state lottery site under the news section.
If you Google 2012 Powerball changes you will find an article by someone that analyzed 2012 Powerball vs existing MegaMillions payouts. Other than top tier, MegaMillions wins hands down as the best value per dollar. But MegaMillions will probably soon change also, so it probably will not matter anyway.

Connecticut to audit lottery winners for back taxes
Unless some guys are reading another article, what I read seems to make perfect sense.
Checking the lottery winner's child support payment history before handing over the check is saving time and energy.
If dead beats don't support their offsprings the rest of us law abiding citizens are forced to do it. I hate that.

Retailer perspective: Selling a $254M lottery ticket
That's the big thing I took away from this article.
While I wouldn't go so far as to call them liars , TV reporters do in fact ask leading questions so as to get the kinds of answers they need so as to be able to spin the story the way they want to tell it! It's all about getting a large number of eyeballs on the TV screen. The higher their stations ratings, (which TV stations get based upon the size of their viewing audience) the more the station can charge for ad time. All reporters haves b

Retailer perspective: Selling a $254M lottery ticket
Maybe it's the flu I have, but I read this article twice and I just can't understand what the controversy is actually about? Who is upset over what? Are people saying that the guy that bought the ticket is not a regular customer? So what? Who cares? Is it that he is NOT a construction worker? I don't get it.
Anyway, I think it's cool to give a clerk a tip IF they helped you to pick out a winning ticket or encouraged you to buy a ticket. If I'm picking my numbers and they are just doing t

Powerball lottery winners award $1 million in grants
You are apparently not very familiar with itemized deductions under the tax code. Charitable deductions are part of miscellaneous itemized deductions. These are limited by a two percent of adjusted gross income floor. So a one million dollar charitable gift on their prize amount would not begin to approach a level that was even deductible.
I also feel that you did not read the article very carefully. Note that it said, The trustees of the Putnam Avenue Family Trust has awarded their first $1

Woman accused of killing Florida lottery winner sued by victim's estate
If Dee Dee Moore was a licensed Financial Advisor she's not representative of the hundreds of thousands of Financial Counselors who are legitimate/ethical practicioners of their profession. From what I read of this story, Moore befriended Shakespeare after he won and claimed money publicly by first paying someone (I believe article stated a police officer) money for informing her of his residence and other identifying infomation.
One purpose for speaking with Financial advisors, Tax accounta
