Nagging wife, sausage help man win $4.2M lottery jackpot
Hilarious story!
They sound like cool people.
It is nice that some places have more sensible policies about remaining anonymous.

Are Canadians taxed on lottery prizes?
In Norway there's no taxes for playing lotteries and you can stay anonymous. 50% of the money spent goes back to the players as prizes.
As far as I know lotteries in USA gives 50% back to the players AND charge taxes on lottery winnings in addition.
Has always thought of it as strange that in USA where the citizens and politicians hate taxes so much they charge taxes on lottery winnings.

Ontario lottery winners: remember when you bought the ticket ... or else
I've always had a bit of fear of this problem should I win the big one. I travel frequently throughput four states (PA, NJ, DE, MD) and purchase Powerball and Megamillions tickets at various places in each. I have my favorite places, but these are fairly many and if asked when and where I purchased a particular ticket I would have a difficult time remembering. This is compounded by the fact that I often buy multiple draws, so my Delaware Powerball ticket may be good for 10 draws (5 weeks), decre

what to do when you win the lottery?
First I would be discrete about it, as no one will know that I've won.. Of course I will call the claim office that I have the right to be kept anonymous.
Second, I'd buy new house, new car and furnitures, then go tell my parents I have a gift..
3rd, travel the world!!
That's if the money I won could be spent this much.. ehhehe ;)

N.Y. lottery winner and tenant fight thief
jim695 - you know, that was why I joined this group in the first place. I wanted information on what to do if I win the lottery. In North Carolina, you can't be anonymous, no blind trust, no corporations - to my knowledge. Basically, you can decline getting your picture taken, but that's it!! A major problem is that in many counties, they have websites where people can look up your name and get your home information - how much it cost, square footage, address, phone, etc (so, yes, much more than

Washington lottery winner claims jackpot anonymously
It is unfortunate how much you lose after tax too!
I think you should be able to remain anonymous if you win, I would! I wouldn't want everybody who lives in my street knowing I've just won $10million! I can think of a few ppl who would prob become a close friend of mine all of a sudden!

Sensitive Subject...Could you live with yourself if you lost the winning ticket?
I would be very very depressed about it, but I would go on living.
Even though I have grand schemes for staying anonymous, I would be concerned to lose my ticket and might go claim it right away.
Infact, that in my mind has always been one of the harder lotto decisions.
If you have ever had your wallet lost or stolen, you know it is possible to lose stuff of value without meaning to.

Splitting tickets between multiple retailers
Both Oregon and Washington allow lottery players to buy their tickets from vending machines. That's usually how I buy them. The machines themselves don't take photos of ticket buyers ... so, to hide your identity, it's a simple matter of knowing where the store's surveillance video cameras are located and not looking directly at them. Chip Polston, the PR honcho for the Kentucky Lottery Corporation, told me a story about one guy who really wanted to remain anonymous. Unfortunately for him, the r

Washington lottery winner claims jackpot anonymously
I was particularly interested in the choice of name for the corporation: A2A3A4, LLC. There have been a number of comments on various threads that a winner doesn't have to include his/her name in the name of a trust or corporation, at least not in most states, thus helping to preserve anonymity. The unusual name this winner used certainly wouldn't give much of a hint as to his/her identity!
The strange thing is that a couple of years ago in a series of email communications I had with the Wash

Why you should try to remain anonymous if you ever win a jackpot!
If I won, I'd like to remain anonymous, but in Canada, the lottery corporation wants you to tell the media, which is a drag, because then maybe people will start knocking on your door, looking for money from you!
You would have to move anyway after the publicity.
Which I gladly would because I am not happy with the neighborhood that I live in, and want to move away anyway!
