I don't think the lottery knows where the jackpot tickets are ahead of time. I think when they collect the open books, they bring them to the office/ destruction place and right before they are shredded they are scanned out of the system and their terminal tells them if a jackpot ticket is being destroyed. She flat out told me that even if jackpots show as remaining and the game is on the ending games list DO NOT PLAY IT.

I looked back and the history of winners starts on Feb 1 2003. I counted 143 jackpots won amd several were split so there would be more winners then 143. I actually think i might have undercounted the amount and this starts at 2003. So since 1995 it would be over well over 200 that actually won a powerball jackpot.

What is advertised is what you get. No jackpot value vs cash value. No 40-50% taxes. No marketing requirements to fulfill. That's a good system.
