N.J. Gov.'s plan to privatize lottery comes under fire from Democrats
Democratic lawmakers took aim at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's plan for the private sector to run the New Jersey Lottery, saying the 15-year contract currently on the table benefits the winning company more than New Jerseyans.
At a hearing of the Assembly Budget Committee today, Democrats and small business owners said the proposal needs more public input because the Lottery a $2.6 billion business has been well run over the years and thousands of small businesses could be hurt by the move

How do I protect my system? A programmer wants to create a software for me
I have a lotto system that has produced 6 winning numbers before and now a developer programmer wants to turn my system into a lotto software but how do I protect myself from it beings stolen from me? Do I sit down with him and just reveal how everything works in hopes he wont steal my system and claim it as his own or do I create a contract? Yet I feel somewhat lost on what to say in the contract? The programmer believes in my system and is going to create the software for free for me but wants

Pool of McDonald's workers claims Mega Millions fraud
These IDIOTS DESERVE WHAT THAT GOT ----- NOTHING.
How many times have you heard the same ole story about some group pooling their money without a Lottery Pool Contract. I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER, enter a Lottery Pool without a signed Contract. If you think for a second, that people are trust worthy with 656 million Dollars at stake, you're an IDIOT or you are REALLY REALLY STUPID. Personally I don't feel sorry for none of these IDIOTS. YOU DESERVE TO KEEP WORKING AT McDonalds. Oh yeah, I'm

Six $1 million lottery prizes won at same Louisiana store
If that is the case, I bet that winner is probably thinking, Dang it, I could have had $6 million vice just $3 million if I would have only ponied up an additional 6 bucks...which is why I too always buy the mistake ticket. Given how lawsuits have been churning as of late, I wonder if the original purchaser of the ticket who declined the mistake ticket will try to sue the lottery to get the other winning ticket? But that person would not have a case since playing the lottery is a lot like buying

it could have an edge...although the edge is so far away...it would not matter if it was 1000 or 100000 light years away...we are constricted to this planet...only our consciousness can extend to the edge...and as atoms and electrons and quarks...maybe the balls are conscious of the edge.
maybe the edge can expand or contract...maybe there is an edge that if need be can stretch two feet... or contract two feet...it would have no affect really on earth...or would it...
a big bang theory wou

Powerball multi-state lottery to raise prices, jackpots
It was done in mid-2009, but applied retroactively to January 1st. The bill came a few months after a group of NJ players won a MM jackpot of about $200 million (annuity value), and many of them believe that was the reason for the change in the law. News articles quoted a state official as saying it would generate about $8 million per year, but figuring the group collected a cash prize of at least $100 million the state would have reaped a windfall of about $11 million just from that one drawing

Some not pleased with N.J. Lottery Internet drawing broadcast
But move to Web might eventually broaden the number of TV stations to carry live draws
It doesn't matter what changes: any time a change occurs at the lottery, there are some who won't like it.
Genevieve Tappan has played the New Jersey Lottery for more than 40 years, but hasn't bought a ticket since Saturday, when she realized the nightly drawings were no longer being televised.
I like to see them pull it so they don't have the chance to switch it, said Tappan, 80, of East Orange. Old

Ohio Senate bill includes privatizing lottery
And like GTECH's proposal, the Senate budget bill would exempt the company that wins the lottery contract from paying taxes on its fees.
There's a red flag.
They have different entities fighting for the contract and they give away the potential tax revenue like they have to entice them with a bonus?
Somebody's palm got greased on this one.

Missouri Senate to discuss privatizing state lottery
That's the idea, but instead of just being the company that supplies systems and tickets, they staff every position at the lottery -- the management, the marketing, the draw staff, etc. They decide how to run the whole operation (within whatever limits are within their contract). The state continues to have oversight, probably with some kind of lottery oversight panel in the legislature.
I'm sure they create more profit through efficiencies (cost savings) as well as additional marketing of so

Indiana man says store cost him $11.5M lottery jackpot
they are claiming that the store had an obligation to sell him a ticket...and they suing for breach of contract...
i dont beleive they have an obligation....they are providing a service but they are not under an obligation...i dont believe there is a contract or agreement or anything like that....i think the situation is unfortunate but from a legal standpoint i dont see how he can claim for 11.5 million
now i do think that it seems kinda of unneccesary for the store to stop selling ticket
