Buying an entire roll of NY Scratch offs that offer a one million prize
I bought a full unopened pack of The New York Lottery's $5 scratch offs which cost $500. (100 in a pack) They served as the prize for a 100 square pool I ran at work. I bought a newly introduced scratch off game, so I was pretty sure that there were top prizes still available. The guy who won them told me he won a total of $210 dollars. He actually won $200 because he bought two squares of the 100 squares in the pool. Each square cost participant's $5. The only other thing I can add to

Do you play alone or in a pool?
When I worked I played in a small pool. Since I retired I play alone for the most part. My sister buys tickets because I told her I wasn't sharing with any non-players--

Do you play alone or in a pool?
Alone. Although I did join the one-time pool at work for the 1.5B PB back in January. I also bought 1 ticket on my own that time.

Need help with Excel
I recently found a way to create a reliable pool of numbers for the pick 3 singles in Quebec. I am using the Extra numbers , it is similar to Encore in Ontario or The kicker in Ohio for example. Here's what i have found : Yesterday's Extra numbers were 8169497 now, i break down this number into pairs , no doubles ; 816947 : 81 86 89 84 87 16 19 14 17 69 64 67 94 97 47 and then, i match these pairs with the missing digits : 0235 to create 810 812 813 815 860 862 863 865 ... etc.

Mega Millions ponderously reaches $280 million
Does buying 2 megamillions tickets really cut the odds in half to 1 in 129 million? That doesn't seem correct. Buying 2 tickets only takes 2 combinations out of the pool

printing lottery betting slips
If you had ever filled out a hundred play slips as I and a co-worker did for a pool I was in before I retired you would know one of many possible answers. A computer would be more accurate and if you're using a system that requires that many lines you also want to avoid as many mistakes as possible.

Working on algorithm
Inspite of filtering out two of the winning numbers to reduce the pool to 57, the 10 lines I posted on the prediction board matched 2+1 for $5 which would have covered half the price of playing them. I would like to get the price of playing even lower.

The secret to winning lottery with Scratch off's
excellent analysis you've put into words what I've long suspected about the nature of these games. Concerning top prizes hitting at the beginning of a new game, I see that as just another layer in the illusion. Even though there could be up to 8 or so different games in a denomination supposedly with their own prize pool I believe they are rather contiguous entities, with no more than 1-3 pools going at a time.
