I'm pretty sure they use balls. But we only have proof of Pick-3, Pick-4, and the Canada-wide games being ball-drawn. The way other games like Payday and Lottario (which is awesome) are drawn have not yet been comfirmed.

You would not get $5 Million each. You would each get about $144,230 a year for 26 years (after federal tax withholding), or about $2,250,000 (after federal tax withholding). And that doesn't count the state taxes they'll withhold should you buy in a state in which that applies. Fortunately, you live in Canada, so that would be the end of the taxes on your money. For us in the US, they'd then go after more later on.

Most people aren't smart enough to know the difference and the morons in the press just continue the problem. Reporting on the actual post-tax cash amount would take some effort on the part of the press. I find it odd that only the US has this problem. Canadian and European games all have cash prizes already and in both Canada and Europe it's tax free for now.

Part of my career position required that I take a course in contractual law so its not as cut and dry as it appears in your above post. Seems very expensive. You must be doing well to do that. If I were closer to Canada or if one of the online sites that are dependable offered the Canadian games I'd get 6/49 when it gets up there. Awhile ago it really got high at $40 million. Good luck to your group.
