Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
If the jackpots don't get quite as high it's because MORE STATES ARE PLAYING and PEOPLE ARE WINNING JACKPOTS MORE OFTEN. That isn't how it works. How often the jackpots are won is and always will be a function of the odds, but probability is only a trend and there will be variations on both sides of the norm. The more people play the more money goes into the prize pool and the higher the jackpots get. More people playing means more winners, but it also means more money for prizes at the s

Missing The $200m-$300m Jackpots
It is inevitable that there will be big jackpots again, just as it was inevitable that there would small jackpots when the big ones were running. Over the last 7 draws in MM, sales were about $112M. Big jackpots were produced from jackpots that had $116M in sales at this point.

Missing The $200m-$300m Jackpots
I think these jackpots can reach $250 million if MM and PB continues to roll.

Missing The $200m-$300m Jackpots
I don't know if anyone else is feeling it, but I miss the large jackpots that were in 2005 and the beginning of this year! I hope this present run by Mega Millions and Powerball reaches at minimum $250,000,000. Whats your thoughts?

What is up with MM/PB
If you think of the jackpot size as a random event, just as who wins what is a random event, then you would expect the jackpot sizes to be randomly distributed and follow a bell curve distribution, just like any random distribution. Therefore, I would expect very large jackpots to represent only 2% of the jackpots, with most most of the jackpots falling around whatever the average turns out to be.

What is up with MM/PB
I was looking at the history of 2006 winners in Powerball and up till now their have been 10 winning jackpots and 11 winners because one jackpot recently was split. Out of those winning jackpots half of them exceeded the $100 million annuity. Out of the half 2 were in the $100 million range, 3 were in the $200 million range and their was 1 that was over $300 million. I think though because the jackpots happened in the first half of 2006 players tend to forget that fact. Kind of what has Powe
