Legality of Tennessee-Georgia lottery partnership questioned
I'd like to know how long it has taken other states to start selling lottery tickets following enactment of lottery legislation. If, as it seems, it is taking Tennessee longer than most, this is a commentary on the state of Tennessee politics.I live in Arkansas, and I've been buying my lottery tickets in Missouri for over a year now. It takes me more than an hour of driving each way, whereas if tickets were available in Tennessee I could simply cross the bridge. But, hey, if Tennessee doesn't wa

Will Texas Join.....
Texas will probably go with Powerball. That is my educated guess. It doesn't matter which one they choose because Gov. Perry signed legislation basically saying the Texas Lottery Commission can adopt whatever games they choose and make any rule changes they deem necessary WITHOUT public input. Public hearings on June 30th will be a farce and the public here in Texas can be damned for all the Legislature cares. Here in Texas TLC doesn't stand for Tender Loving Care.I heard somewhere that state

Mass. 6/42 & 6/49
JYM:All US big jackpot lottery games will continue to advertise the annuity value for the forseeable future, barring (unlikely) federal legislation requiring lotteries to automatically pay winners in lump sum.Mass. (and NY, where I live, to a lesser degree) continues to give in to the greed of companies which sell annuities, which is why those who win the 6/42, 6/49, and many of the Mass. scratch games cannot take the lump sum. (Mass. winners of MM _can_ take the cash, fortunately.)If you live

Got a question for all about systems
Old Hank,When I first shared my system with the lottery community two years ago. I was very open about how it all worked and the theory behind it. Someone warned me that what you just mentioned could happen to me if I was not careful.I immediately deleted all references to How and Why my system worked. I had to do some damage control and then devised some new innovative filtering techniques and algorithms for my system. Here is a link to the THE DIGITAL MILLENNIUM COPYRIGHT ACT OF 1998http://

How much tax ?
Theoretically they would pay less. Failing any state legislation specifically covering non-resident winfall taxes, taxes are paid to the country of residence under their laws. If you were Canadian, Lottery winnings are non-taxable in Canada, so you would pay NO tax on the winnings :-)There used to be a federal 'non-resident witholding tax' that scooped up 40% of any earnings made by an alien AND leaving the country, but the pro sports crowd killed that one. Some States replaced it by taxing non-

Will R.I. Lottery win or lose in $1 billion IGT contract battle?
Is it a wise move that would keep more than 1,000 high-paying jobs in Rhode Island or just the latest example of a you gotta know a guy back-room deal?
Is the lottery giant IGT as Rhode Island as Del's lemonade or as British as Big Ben?
In short, is the proposed no-bid, $1-billion, 20-year extension of IGT's current 20-year gambling technology contract a solid win for the Rhode Island economy or an ill-advised sweetheart deal ?
As state lawmakers prepare to review the proposal this fall

New York seizes $20 million in lottery prizes from people on public assistance
New York state has reclaimed nearly $20 million in lottery prizes since 2013 from winners who had received public assistance in the last 10 years.
The little-known program, one of the toughest of its kind in the country, has grabbed back prizes from an estimated 30,000 winners in the last four years.
At least six other states have similar programs, but New York is the only state that seizes prizes of those on public assistance, experts said. Other programs take back unpaid child support pa

Alabama lawmakers weigh in on lottery
Several Montgomery-area lawmakers say they could support letting Alabamians decide whether the state has a lottery, and whether Powerball and Mega Millions tickets are sold locally.
But they say they're unlikely to support any effort to allow electronic games at several sites around the state.
The Legislature returns to the Statehouse on Monday to debate lottery legislation and likely other possible revenue fixes for the state. More money for the state Medicaid Agency in 2017 is a priority
