PowerBall and the 10x PowerPlay promotion
For several years, PowerBall has had a promotion where 1 slot on the wheel that selected the PowerPlay multiplier was replaced by a 10x multiplier, and all prizes were increased accordingly if the 10x was chosen for a given draw. In the past, this has always happened in March or April (at least according to the Wikipedia article on PowerBall). March has gone, and April has started, yet I've heard no promotion of the 10x multiplier. Does anyone know if there are plans to do this in 2009?
I kno

Arizona Lottery's Cash 4 game starts today
I read the article, but it didn't mention how much it cost. I think it said $2 for a 2-ball match. But please correct me if I'm wrong, bc I'm not sure how much it does cost.
But even at $1 a play, $2 seems a bit low for 2 balls. This is only acceptable if the game is i dunno, 50cents or so. Just seems fair. But lotteries like to stick to the Almight Dollar, when priciing their games lol. Well most of them anyway. LOL. i guess its a hassle any other way.. HMM .... LOL.

Nevada lottery plan approved by committee
Well my friend I don't live in Nevada, so can't comment on what goes on there. Never have I been either. But I think casino's just want fat pockets, and the state deservest better. No business can run everything. Casinos are a type of industry, and lotteries another. I say let there be competition. As this is what this country is all about. Keeps everyone in check.
Probably as best said in the article. Let the voters decide. - , bc ultimately it's the locals who know best what they want Or wo

Sting nabs Minnesota lottery clerks stealing winning tickets
One can imagine that this article (the subject matter) is a hot topic of conversation among lottery directors. Hopefully every state lottery has done this, or is planning to do this undercover ticket redemption.
I hope that while they are going through this process that they also note which retailers refuse to pay out the prize. There is nothing more aggravating than taking a winning ticket to a retailer only to be told we can't cash that ticket.
If a store wants to be a lottery retailer,

Who owns what?
If they hadn't been scanned in they wouldn't be valid to be played.
If you scratched them and had what you thought to be a winner (you'd be told, Well, you have a winning ticket that was never scanned in anywhere), attempting to cash it would make you automatically suspect.
If they had been scanned, either way you'd have a sticky wicket on your hands. If you put an ad in the paper's Lost Found, good luck on figuring out who the real owner was.
The best bet, as already mentioned, would b

Magic 8
read the article Bobp refered to. who knows when or where this set of numbers were created. they are still useful as index #'s or pointers. take the last 12 games of whatever lottery you play. order your numbers from most frequent to least frequent. now use the numbers you posted as index pointers to create 8 new sets based on current game history.
good luck

Anonymity to avoid lawsuits - frivolous and otherwise
Yes definately. There was an article I read about Jack Whittaker, who won the W. Virginia lottery in 2002. He had his car broken into, was drugged, had people just hunt him down asking for money....no thanks.
I would much rather create a trust, have my attorney attend the new conference and relay my feelings and intentions and then I bank it all and live very quietly, but definitely pay off the mortgage and swap out the old Buick for a nice Honda or something.
Publicity when you

Something to clear up...
I just read the winner's guide for California Lottery. The booklet makes it clear that winner's name is required to be disclosed.
But I remember that one CA jackpot winner claiming the prize anonymously. How?! Did the article give us wrong information?
One more thing. In Korea, there's a rumor that winning a US lottery jackpot will guarantee a citizenship. But outside of Korean sources, I never found this information and no verification. Is this true?

Lottery win bad news for gas station employees
Taking my cue from this article, I decided to nip any future misunderstanding in the bid. I call my staff into the kitchen and told them straight out that should this corporation recieve any windfall from Powerball that they would not (and I emphasized NOT) recieve any benefit.
My kids wondered what a Powerball was and my wife promptly dumped my supper into the garbage disposal.
Should I fire them?
