Honest store clerk returns $100,000 lottery ticket
I keep all my losing tickets for tax purposes just in case I win some money later. Lottery players should request the return of all their tickets unless the clerk need them as a record of payouts. Some clerks will even return your winning tickets after the payouts has been recorded at the terminal.RJOh

Cali sells 5.2 million tickets
Not to bad for the first drawing. It usually takes a jackpot of $100 million to see any state hit that level. Is it because it was a new game or will it continue to be that high. 52 million for the 7th drawing, is it a record for a roll?Brad

Anti-lottery group will file lawsuit against Mega Millions in Calif.
Well the Democrats and Indian Casinos are behind it. Even though the claim to be against gambling they are recieving money from Indian casinos. I just hope the current jackpot gets high then the injuction goes through. They could even have an add showing the winner in some other state of a record jackpot with the caption This winner thanks the Democrats of the CA Senate for preventing a winner from CA

Californians dished out their first dollars Wednesday on a multistate lottery that has paid record jackpots as high as $363 million. The California debut of Mega Millions had people lining up at many stores as tickets were offered for the first time. The potential payoff seemed irresistible for players who ranged from parking attendants to sharp-dressed businesswomen.Computer administrator Eduardo Cartagena, 25, bought his ticket at a convenience store in downtown Los Angeles. I rarely buy tickets

Lottery winners right to privacy
Depends how much you win. The smaller the prize the less the media will care. Anything under 100 million means no one will know who you are unless you want them to. If you break the record at 314 or 363 million it doesn't matter how hard you try to hide the media would find you.

$220M lottery winner wants to be billionaire
I dunno, CO. I'd have to think about it, probably take the annuity, just to have on record that I did. Any time that many people care as much as the people here do about whether someone takes the lump or the annuity, I'd say there's almost a moral obligation to run against the current. Even though I'm reasonably sure I wouldn't come within 15 years of living long enough to draw all of it.I just hate people getting into my business enough to be saying what I ought to do.Jack

1st MM jackpot with CA
Personally I hope it becomes a record jackpot then right before the big drawing of Mega finally breaking the 300 or 400 million dollar mark the morons in the CA legislature win an injuction so the CA players can't get any tickets for it.

cash vs. annuity
If Jack wins again, maybe it would be a wakeup call to him and he would straighten out. Though I would rather the record breaker be someone who would better use the money for good.
