Lottery Taxes
Sirbrad, please go back and read some of the explanations given to you above. You are never taxed an additional 10%. Your tax rate is based upon your total adjusted gross income less deductions and credits. Perhaps the following chart will help you.

With most investments you are not going to have withholding of estimated taxes at all. (There are some exceptions, like when you make a withdrawal of money from an IRA.) If a large porti

Lottery Taxes
The book I am reading now says you can give $22,000 a year to as many people as you want, it is dated 2006. Course it says may be liable if over $12,000 here http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=107815,00.html
Not sure if it is the same now or more. Not too bad, and in my area that would be a good living for most. You would be giving someone a career! I also love all the tips and sample press conference questions, and how you should dress and act etc. I have been rehearsing those for ab

$57M Mega Millions lottery winner is sex offender with criminal past
I haven't seen anything reliable about the actions that resulted in the charge against Topous, but he either got a very bad deal or he definitely attempted to do something illegal.
The article says He's also on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry for committing a criminal sexual assault with the intent to commit penetration. He registered in 1999, and is compliant. I thought it was with an adult that said no and he was caught with his pants down but one of the posters said it was consensual

Sex Offender Wins$57 Million in Lottery
Yes, If I remember the article, it was a plea down from attempted rape. I too think the others are bad (breaking and entering) but some do stupid things from stupid reasons....drugs, paybacks, easy money etc. But this one is the worst. I DO understand those who don't want to judge, as he is the one true judge. I think its just the stigma that will follow him around forever.. once a sex offender, always a sex offender no matter when your registry expires. You never lose that brand . Maybe if some

Does God pick the winners
I guess to be fair we don't know all the circumstances but still he's a three time convicted felon. Hope his life is straightened out and everything but I have a feeling we'll be hearing from this guy at some point later on. His friends said they cleaned him out playing poker that Friday he won and he went on a beer run or whatever when he bought the ticket. From the article I read Fred Topous served around six or seven years for attempted sexual assault and was in jail from 1999 to 2006 for it

What if you could pick the correct p/3# each time?
If the payout limit was reached every draw they would shut the game down. Money wagered generally does not cover the limit.
When trips hit in S.C. recently they had a news article where the lottery got clobbered. They took in something like 150 thou and paid out over 500 thou.
If I were able to pick just one winning number per draw I would not wager large amounts to kill the cow.
Nice to live in fantasy land and dream on.

Tim Russert has died
If you don't like what I write, why would you lie just because I kick the bucket? Of course it would be best not to say anything at all. However, one big difference is that Tim Russert was a pubic figure. (I'm not.)
I've read about former lottery jackpot winners when they died that I never recalled reading about before, did winning a lottery jackpot make them a public figure? Usually someone was writing an article about how badly they spent their winnings. My condolences to anyone who loses a

Couple loses 'lucky' lottery numbers, wins $27 million
Etobicoke? Where the heck is that? Is it the place just north of Diet Etobicoke?
The solution would be to have your program and the data it needs on a Pocket PC, as I have mine. As long as I (clunk!) remember to bring the Pocket PC with me! Or on a laptop PC, but Pocket PC is more convenient when you are filling betslips on the coffee-stained counter of the ELE7VEN.

Man quits lottery pool, then wins with Quick Pick
Funny you should mention this! I just sent an email to a friend about last night's jackpot. Some people used self-picks and some bought QPs. I'd be happy with any win, but imagine your 5 numbers finally come up after 10 years and 7 other people win. Sunday nobody won at all and the jackpot was about $214K. I thought Now tonight is the night I wish I hit it!
The only thing I don't like about this news article is that the man sounds mean. I wonder why he keeps mentioning the people in his offi
