Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
MM has rolled over. The cash value prize is estimated at $66.5; the advertised annuity value is $114M.
Although this is an eleventh drawing coming up, it is more typical of an average 10th drawing, as sales have been lower for this run than on average. Possibly the long run without an annuity jackpot over $100M played a roll.
A tenth round drawing sells on average (including this recent draw). sells 30.7M tickets. If this is the number of tickets that sell, the randomized distributi

Wisconsin factory workers win $208M Powerball lottery
Psykomo - sorry I spelled your name incorrectly. Just noticed. I can't edit my post...too late! LOL
Coin Toss - I think you and I are saying the same thing, right? No group can claim a prize as both an annuity and a cash payment unless that state has an exception (some do) where more than one winner can receive a prize for one ticket. Let's forget the graduated annuity for a minute. If a group in GA bought a MM ticket and won $150M and 10 people won, each person would be entitled to rece

S.D. couple claim Powerball lottery jackpot
HAPPY WEDNESDAY....CASH N'CARRY....
'In early 2005 there were consecutive losers who chose annuity. Actually one let the 60-day clock expire. The two winners led to PB changing the annuity to graduated payments later in the year.'
That just goes to show, that the winnner, really didn't need the prize in the fst place, or they stashed the ticket away and contracted amnesia.

mega millions vs. powerball
Megamillions gives a higher cash value, and rises faster in real terms, but the odds against winning are much longer.
I live in a border area and can play each game. I play according to the expectation value, which is a value of the prize divided by the odds against winning it, adjusted for the likely numbers of winners and potential prizes. Like all gamblers, I accept to play at an expectation value of much less than one, but even I have lower limits. (In very large jackpots, the expect

$400 million jackpot
Quote: Originally posted by dvdiva on May 17, 2006Looks like the Megamillions curse of low prizes continues. Powerball sales might go up a little since the competition is out. Jackpot should hit the cap on the 10th (365 + 19.6M bonus) of 390M. It might tick of NC players but at least they would know what they are missing. The cap now would give 171.6 cash or 111 after federal tax.
That stinks that rising interest rates will make the cash jackpot of a new Powerball annuity record lower than

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
For the purposes of my calculations, I don't pay any attention whatsoever to the annuity value, which is just marketing. I include them here because that is what most people think about. But the numbers I offer for annuity are after the fact calcuations. The actual thing that I model is sales, not jackpots, cash or otherwise. I use the figures at . Previously I estimated sales, but the lottoreport figures are very accurate. She gets them as a press report directly faxed from variou

Sales for new Texas Lotto starts today
Lotto Texas annuity jackpot is paid as 25 annual installments, as indicated in TX lottery website. I just tried to estimate the cash value of $36M Lotto TX annuity jackpot for 4/29 drawing, tonight.
Assuming that Texas Lottery and Mega Millions have the same rate of return on their investment of cash jackpot, I could get the estimated cash option value of $21 million. In that case, the cash value ratio of Lotto Texas jackpot would be equal to 58%, while the cash value ratio of MM is 56%.

Bonus ball bounced by Lotto Texas
Wasnt the lottery at first a 20 year payout? Annuity in TX is 25 years, some its 26 and I thinkg FL is 30 yrs. This is reinforces getting the CASH VALUE option I was reading about a player who go their last(20th) annuity check. Does this mean that tha paper and ink that the lottery machine prints out on is cost more? hence 2=30 year annuities instead of the original 20?
Didi anyone hear about the $60 million dollar lottery winner who the police had to shoot at? I dont know the whole story

13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
JIM:
Every lottery in the USA shows the winners holding a check with the annuity payout amount listed, not the cash value. Why are you picking on Powerball? If every lottery does it, then it is not a valid point to be used in your attempt to rip Powerball a new one.
You may not like that they do it, but it is certainly not deceptive advertising . You should be more judicious in your use of that term. There are some real scam artists out there ripping people off, and to lump Powerball
