Did Newsom just set a precedent for winners to remain anonymous in California?Reply
The vaccine lottery was run by the State done just like regular State lottery with numbered balls etc. Governor Newsom drew the numbers himself. Newsom said it was up to the winners if they wanted their names made public. This sure looks like a legal precedent to allow lottery winners in California to remain anonymous to me. It absolutely was a State lottery. (I'm not even sure WTF the first reply was about, I assume the poster was drunk)

Australian Lottery winners can remain anonymous. Note how they aren't named. They also don't pay tax on lottery winnings (I checked the relevant Australian tax department page :)). However, the lottery people do ask them a few questions to give them a story... The news release would have been 'approved by the couple (I imagine.. pretty sure that there is no obligation to say anything, but a story that can grab attention.. I mean. Couple win $100,000 claim it immediately. Plan to pay off debts

If it bleeds it leads. We do not hear about all the non-winning tickets. I agree that winners need a plan but those plans do change when reality hits. Plans for a $70 million jackpot are different than plans for a billion dollar jackpot. Count your blessings if you win in an anonymous State. In California winners can usually negotiate how much media attention they are forced to do.

Isn't Arizona an anonymous state? Not my friend in Mesa, darn it. AZ cannot offer on-line sales, I emailed them about that last week. Due to Tribal agreements in that state they said. My 13 tickets on-line were all losers, and the one I bought in the store hit for $4. Would really like it if it was a group of players, been some time since that has happened.

Rule #1- Always stay on your numbers I personally post my list based on grids and workouts. It's up to others to do the work and compare numbers and pairs to your own workouts. On the other hand, nobody is forced to play my numbers. I honestly don't care what anyone thinks. If any of you win, I celebrate too. Also, I don't have to say how much money I play and I won. Its a lot of dough to win - especially if you are in a state that does not allow anonymous claim. I never thought of myself as a big jackpot winner - if I was even lucky enough to win - it would be when the jackpot starts over and is at its lowest amount - The odds of winning $200 is 1 in 14,547 - I still have yet to reach those heights.
