UK winner claims £123 million EuroMillions lottery jackpot anonymously
If given the option to remain anonymous and a winner doesn't take it I'd guess that their main motivation for not doing so is being an attention whore monger. Just my $.02 but why oh why would someone blow their chance to remain anonymous?

Lottery state chart/anonymity and claimants
Regarding Oregon, In 2015 a man in Iraq purchased a winning lottery ticket through a courier service and when he traveled to Oregon to claim it, the lottery accommodated his request to stay anonymous, citing his safety concerns. This could open the door to other big winners staying anonymous. I cannot post a link, but it's easy to Google.

NY Gov Cuomo vetoes bill that would have allowed lottery jackpot winners to remain anonymous
There are ways to remain anonymous. But I also believe their are ways to find out if youre anonymous who you are. If I won 250 million, you can bet your bottom dollar I d have ex Navy Seals as bodyguards. I wouldnt be worried at all. I d be happy as a clam. :)

Iowa single mom claims half of $687.8 million Powerball lottery jackpot
I would have claimed anonymous and continued living my life; I'd never reveal to the public that I've won, honestly speaking...it's no one's business. Thankfully in MD you can remain anonymous.

Winner
Personally, I would stay anonymous; but, I keep thinking about the folks who went on the Today show. Even if they did not have the option to remain anonymous, they could have collected in a much quieter manner. Some don t mind the publicity, apparently. Not for me.

Lead balloon or good idea?
Why should the winner have to pay anything to remain anonymous? It's bad enough that the lottery keeps such a large portion of your wager. Charging even a dollar to be anonymous is just another kick in the teeth.

Oh where oh where is justxploring. These discussions always bring to mind a post she made about someone suing to remain anonymous, winning the case, and thus becoming famous for winning their right to remain anonymous!

NY lottery winner plans to sue Gaming Commission to keep his $5M winnings a secret
Thanks, this one should be interesting to see what happens. I say NO he should not be allowed to be anonymous. The rules at the time he played were - he HAD to give his name. IF him or anyone else does not want their name given - DONT PLAY THE GAME. Wait for your state to change to allowing you to be anonymous.

Is it possible to be anonymous in a non anonymous state?
We'll find out shortly here in New Hampshire. Attorneys for last months big Powerball winner will be in court tomorrow seeking an order that will allow her to remain anonymous. Tonight's news had a story about this. She may also have another avenue to stay secretive. A state senator will be introducing a bill this week to allow lottery winners to remain anonymous. Even if it does pass it would appear unlikely to retroactively protect our winners identity.
