Input Playing the Various 6-49 Games
OK ... but with NY being a pretty good gambling state I guess like you said ... Sweet Millions wasn't that interesting to most of them. I always look at the odds of any game in relation to the prize amount ... odds probably don't mean much to many people, just the jackpot amount ... low odds, high odds the games are nearly impossible to hit but better odds give me some hope for something. What RJ0h posted about Ohio and the 6/49 there climbing to around 70 million over three years ... I follo

Monopoly Millionaires game
GiveFive and Growler: Yes, there is a clear distinction here. The odds after buying a ticket but before the drawing were 1 in 5.2 million (before buying a ticket the odds were null). The odds after the jackpot was hit was the 1 in 59,000 number I provided. FTR the odds were 1 in 59,195. Turns out my original guesstimate on sales was very close (apparently only 402 tickets difference between this draw and last). Now, those sound like great odds compared to other games. I think most agree that'

Feeling a bit down..
However, lately, I know the odds are astronomical but someone out there is that one who beats the odds and wins every few weeks. When the jackpots reach certain levels and more tickets are sold, there are some times over a 50% probability of the jackpot being won. That never changes the odds of your one ticket matching the drawn numbers, but the odds of someone winning the jackpot are much better so while the winner beat the odds , having a winning ticket was over 50% probable. The astro

AMAZING: Minnesota man wins back-to-back lottery jackpots
I didn't say it was 170,000 X 2, I said it was 170,000^2. That's 170,000 squared, or 170,000 X 170,000, which is 85,000 times less likely than 170,000 X 2. It isn't when the two wins happen that determines the odds. It's how many tickets he had and for how many drawings. The probability of two events happening depend on how many events could happen and the chances for each event to happen. If he bought a single ticket every day for 10 days there would be the possibility of winning on any or

How lottery legend Joan Ginther used odds, Uncle Sam to win millions
By Peter Mucha, Philly.com Second of three parts See Part 1 Joan Ginther wasn't necessarily lottery loco. Maybe it wasn't a case of dumb luck, but smart luck. She may have purchased at least 80,000 pricey tickets worth $2 million or more, according to expert analysis of 28 instant prizes she won, including three totalling $15 million. If she also was the source of two dozen lesser wins by her friend Anna Morales, Ginther might have spurred the purchase of as many as 100,000 ticket

Tickets for updated Mega Millions game on sale Saturday
By Todd Northrop Starting Saturday, October 19, lottery players from around the United States will be able to buy tickets for the newly-refreshed Mega Millions game, with a ticket price that is remaining just $1 per play. Mega Millions drawings will have larger, faster growing jackpots, million-dollar second prizes and better odds of winning any prize. We think that players will respond favorably to the new Mega Millions changes and expect even greater sales for the game, said Gary Gri

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Seeing that the odds are either one in 3 million or one in 292.2 million you've doubled your chances but have actually only reduced those odds by two possible combinations for Powerball the first ticket reduces the 292.2 odd to 292,200,000 to 292,200,099 and the second ticket to 292,200,098. A long time ago some people here on LP said they played two tickets to cut the odds in half. So the second ticket doubles your odds of winning but in reality whoop tee do. None of this causes me any trouble

PA's $50 ticket coming 12/27-12/28
Hi BT3100, +1 to you, indeed with the posted odds from the odds table and known win count for the $5M prize the 7.2M tickets should be a good number. I went ahead and worked up a valuation table and calculated game payout at just over 80%. One note, like FL, it appears PA rounds the odds for upper prize levels as in the analysis I calculated odds for the 1K and higher levels commensurate with the amounts for those levels that were on the website Mon evening (see screen snip)...or perhaps the pos

what are the odds...
Florida Fantasy 5 is a 36-ball game. Last week I bought 2 qps and today after confirming they were losers, I noticed the lines had the same sum. I know how to work out the odds of that happening when I buy just 2 lines. I'm curious about the odds of it happening if I had bought 3 lines. Meaning, what are the odds of 2 out of 3 having the same sum?

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
I misread this thinking you meant the grand prize odds were 1 in 3.39 million. Understood now that you said the overall odds. Though it isn't what you were referring to, the grand prize odds on this are 1 in 4.32 million. Worse than everything other than $10 Cash for Life. I realize the grand prize odds on any game are ridiculous and it would all come down to luck regardless, but if I remember right, the Holiday game's grand prize odds have been getting progressively worse every year.
