POLL: Time travel
Does this time machine come with magical powers, too? How would one have prevented planned military operations? There are a few of those going on right now; no time machine required. Hop to it. As far as other events , if they were unpleasant, history shows it's best to keep it to yourself as you're going to be ignored at best, and accused at worst. In between are the possibilities of ridicule and/or job loss. You may get credit after the fact, but the event will still have taken place. Most

Tenn. lawmakers want to force lottery to drop computer draws
I hope the Tennessee Lottery is able to secure a director and staff which will (1) listen to player input (2) listen to player input [not a typo] (3) assure all aspects of its operations are transparent to reinvent its image, restore player confidence in its honesty.

Pick 3/computerized cheats/advance plays
I have yet to win ANYTHING on a computerized drawing, not that I play them often but even a 2 of 5 is very tough to get... but yet I routinely match 2 of 5 on the nj and PA 5. You would have to guess ahead of time what the flaw is in the draw program. One thing to note is that any computerization that is similar to TN is using the same generator for all the games, that is the Pick 3 picker will be the same as the Pick 5 picker but the software says (maybe now it does) that #s can be duplicated a

Should The Lottery Be Tax Free
So much of the lottery revenue goes to states and other government functions. Some use it to pay for education, others highways. Some even plan to contract out their lotteries to the private sector. And, if you are lucky enough to win, you get nailed for state and federal tax hits. Given that lump sum means you take the lumps, and taxes on top of that, wouldn't it be fair to just make the lottery tax free for winners? And, isn't government getting into a rather bad way to finance the

California looks to British lottery model
If California lottery is having problems with it sales then they should revamp the lotteries operations, and prize payouts and push the sales department to run a better ad campaign. Selling the state lottery would only be a short term fix for the state budget. In a year or so they would still be in the money hole, looking for more ways to make money from selling state assets. The lottery is a cash cow why would anyone want to sell a money maker. Lets revise the lottery not sell it.

Record powerball lottery winner reflects on sad life
From what I understand, she was in her 80s and underwent numerous skin grafts. When the jury was shown the photographs and listened to the real story, they decided she had suffered and awarded her a lot of money. There had been several other lawsuits for over a decade that were settled quietly. This is what happens when the media gets a hold of a story. I agree there many be many frivolous lawsuits, but most of them never make it to court. Many years ago I was seriously injured by a

Former Indiana Lottery Director cleared of ethics charges
Inspector general finds that sponsoring GOP women's event wasn't an ethical violation The Hoosier Lottery inappropriately sponsored a luncheon for Republican women during the tenure of its former director, but neither that nor other actions rose to the level of ethics violations, the state's inspector general said. The findings essentially cleared former lottery Director Esther Schneider of allegations of cronyism, improper expenditures and other charges raised in an anonymous letter s

would MUSL eventually computerize powerball like they did hot lotto?
If they went computerized, it could open the door for a legal challenge. The legal challenge would be proving that computer code is not random and is easily manipulated. If the court rules in favor of the challenge to the validity of RNG, precedent would be set, all RNG would be invalid. Because PowerBall is multi-state it would be federal and would be very healthy for the industry to bring some light on the operations and money trails of the lotteries. I can see it now, bringing in the p

Since we've had threads on winning billions
Pumpi, McDonald's is a corporation with a Board of Directors. The restaurants are franchises and often an owner will operate 2 or 3 restaurants. I'm sure the executives at the top of the food chain (so to speak) like the Director, President or the VP of Operations all make very handsome salaries. Initially the franchise fee to own a restaurant isn't very high, but then you have rent to pay and all the other operating expenses. I've read that initial start-up fees for a McDonald's range fro
