According to the above article, a lot of players got their numbers from the TLC Network's broadcast of How the Lottery Changed My Life after the show announced what it believed were the most frequently drawn lotto numbers,8-25-31-50-44-54.
A similar thing happened last year when a lot of players got their numbers from fortune cookies which all had the same message. In that case there were more than 120 match5 winners and the PB lottery did an inve

Jackpot Win at my usual store!!
A recent newspaper article stated Even states with the same GTECH terminals may run different or modified quick-pick software in their terminals. I wish someone would explain this to me in simple English. Is it random or isn't it? Do I have the same shot at winning if I get a quick pick at any lottery retailer?
Yes it's random. Different seeds, diferent software or a different location is no different than any other method you could use to choose your numbers randomly. Until you figure

Jackpot Win at my usual store!!
Funny - not only have I thought about this, but today I almost went to another retailer since there have been so many winners lately at Publix. If you pick your own numbers, it should have absolutely no effect at all, since it only matters if they are drawn. However, what about quick picks? I've seen press releases announcing winners from the same store on different dates, but does this mean it's less likely someone will hit a big jackpot there the next week? Maybe it doesn't make sense, but

Tennessee Lottery takes back refund offer
On the Ohio tickets below the name of the game it's almost like billboard and I've seen the projected Mega Millions jackpot on Pick-4 and Rolling Cash 5 tickets. And according to the article, in Tennessee it was a fact the projected PB jackpot was printed on the tickets.
I doubt you have seen the inside of every lottery retailer.
I wonder the same thing every time I see a poll asking do we think a jackpot will roll . I've never had anybody after buying 10 MM tickets ask me if I think t

Jackpot winner says business as usual at executive assistant job
I didn't get that impression from this article. Was this written on another thread? Sounds as if she didn't even realize she won until she saw the news release. To me that's very strange. Why buy a ticket if you aren't going to check the number right after the drawing? I know people who pile them into a sewing basket and check them every few months. Doesn't make any sense to me.
JAG, I agree that most people will eventually leave their jobs, but unless she's hassled by her coworkers, I d

Will millions spoil Bunky Bartlett?
stack and guru,
There was a well written article about winning the lottery in a past issue of Maxim Magazine about winning the lottery. It can be an absolute nightmare for the winners. Winners have been robbed blind through many different ways and families have been torn apart. It's why I don't think that he's being too smart about his winnings. I've always said that if I ever hit the big one, <caps used only for emphasis> I'M GONE! It is the oppurtunity to start a new life that I have

Lotto fever isn't what it used to be
What a TERRIBLE and MEAN spirited article this is against the California Lottery! Why was California the only state focused on for the $330 million Mega Millions game out of the 12 states that sell tickets? Everyone that was interviewed in this article appears to hate the California lottery. You call this unbiased reporting? What a bunch of you know what!
This is just more political fallout because of the privatization debate in California where Schwarzenegger wants to sell out the Lottery to

computerized drawings set to take over the lottery in a few years?
According to that article it seems like Smartplay Int. is the manufacturer/vendor and Gaming Laboratories Inc. was the auditor. I think that Tenn. Lottery should have had additional auditors on site (in Tenn.) and that sufficient testing should have been done prior to deployment. This, while being a silly programming error, should have been caught by the lottery before the drawings went public. Also, why did it take them so long to get a fix for this, when so many people were complaining? di

Lottery winner goes from rags to riches to rags
Too true.
This is a great article. A nice record of how this winner burned out.
One thing to remember is that this money is not lost . It was simply moved to someone else - realtors, car dealers, jewelry dealers, and sadly, sellers of trashy trinkets and drug dealers. That is likely the saddest part - better funding of drug dealers.

Lottery winner goes from rags to riches to rags
Chuck,
I had meant to say those who were in similar situations (drug addicts, ex-cons) such as the subject being profiled in the article.
I agree with you that many others who came from better backgrounds have fared much better with their winnings.
