Lottery winner goes from rags to riches to rags
It solunds like bad moves from the very get-go:
From the article:
The Edwards rocket was accelerating. David sought advice from lawyers in Ashland and hired James Gibbs, a 31-year-old Morgan Stanley broker, as his financial adviser. The first thing Gibbs did was arrange a $200,000 loan so David could celebrate in Las Vegas while awaiting the Powerball payment.
So you're unemployed, hit Powerball, and make a $200,000 loan to go to Vegas? I'll bet the wise guys in Vegas were betting amon

Powerball lottery winners give back
You know, that was my first reaction too, when reading the article. I was always taught you should give quietly. But I've found alot of things I was taught growing up are just plain wrong.
So then as I read thru the replies and saw how heartwarmed everyone was, I changed my view. Deepak Chopra has convinced me that our main purpose in life is to make others happy. So when you give you make yourself happy and the person/people you give to. If publicizing the giving makes a whole bunch o

Lottery Gangsters
There have been a couple of small winners here that said they didn't want to furnish that information, but that has nothing to do with a conspiracy. The people who work at the Lottery Offices are not spies! They don't work for the CIA! Almost every news article says how someone picked his/her numbers. So what? Most of them are quick picks anyway.
I guess I should stop here since I've beaten this one to death. If people from the Lottery are reading our posts, they are probably doing so

After a big multi-million win how long would you wait to come forward?
I thought about this question again when someone won the last big FL jackpot of $33M. He came forward early Monday morning so obviously he didn't have time to contact an attorney or a financial planner. However, when I thought about it, since it takes weeks to actually get your money, why not validate your ticket and take off the way he did? This man's Dad had just passed away so he flew to Cuba to be with his family. Before he bought the ticket, he didn't even have enough for plane fare or

Lottery mathematics
i found this the other day. it's way over my head.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article discusses the way to calculate various probabilities in a lottery game in which one selects 6 numbers from 49, and hopes that as many of those 6 as possible match the 6 that are randomly selected from the same pool of 49 numbers in the draw .

$1 million lottery ticket was overlooked for weeks
I understand your comment, spy. I would love to get a check for $750,000. However, keep in mind that they deduct 25% automatically when a person wins, but if he doesn't have a lot of deductions, he will end up paying much more in federal income tax. With young children, I think he means it's not enough to retire and take care of his family. (That's why it's so hard to interpret what someone really means from a newspaper article.)
Congrat to the winner! It's a good thing he didn't wai

Police foil alleged plot to kidnap lottery winners
The article said that the guy got their name ouit of the phone book, so I don't think it had much to do with how cautiouis they were or weren't.
This is a darn good example of why jackpot winners should be allowed to be anonymous.

Re: A crime wasn't committed . A crime wasn't commited in the Ft Dix bomb plot, either, was it? When the police can step in and stop a crime beofre it's committed, more power to them!

8-time B.C. Lottery winner has history of fraud
I guess I need to read this article over and over again. I don't see anything that says she stole the tickets from customers. Where's the crime? I also don't see why, just because someone was in financial trouble, it makes a difference. So if I lost my home and was totally broke, would that mean a lottery win would be investigated? Maybe this isn't the whole story. Winning 8 times is a lot, but not a crime, unless there is evidence one was actually committed.
Are those the days when Go
