After alleged lottery ticket theft, store banned from ticket sales
Rjoh- Most pools that I have been a participant has a cut and dry method. Claimant puts cash winnings that exceed 600$ in the group bank account. 25% is automatically retained by the bank (at our request) and at the end of the year, the person who claimed the amount can withdraw for tax still due on that PART of the lottery amount. We gain interest and at the same time the claimant is covered. It can be done. And yes we divied the difference once received at the bank. Most often we kept our losi

Lottery winner followed careful spending plan
justxploring...great question! Particuarly as this article was published in Fortune which has a nationwide distribution. Good for him that he won. To me it sounds like this guy has a bit of an ego, not that there is anything wrong with that. He wants for prople to know he won with his system, before systems were readily avaiable on the internet. Also he wants to turn his $88 million into a billion. Seems a little much, but it is his money to do as he pleases. For me it would be lie low

What are the odds
I read an article on line that a toddler found $1300 in a book her babbysitter purchased at a thrift shop for .25 cent. The mother took the old money dating back to the 60's to the bank and was given $300 for it because, most of the money was so damaged it just crumbled into pieces so,the mother said she's going to put numbers in front of her lucky toddler in hopes that she pick out the winning lottery numbers. I say she's got the winning number right in front of her... they live in Georgia and

Breaking Las Vegas: Could it happen to the lotto..
Interesting. Thanks, Coin Toss. I wasn't doubting Stack47, just thought the whole idea sounded crazy. The article does state that even with a well organized group of 35 people, they were not able to cover every possible combination. There was still a very large gap and quite a chance that almost 2 million other combinations could have been drawn. So there was still a lot of luck involved and much more risk than I'd ever take. In a way, I really have to support the official decision, and

'Lucky guy' sells ticket that wins half of $42 mllion Lotto jackpot
It would be reasonable to think it's the person who sells the ticket that gets the bonus if you just know that the lottery pays a bonus for selling a winning ticket. As an incentive to sell tickets it would probably make more sense for the lottery to pay the person selling the ticket than the person who owns the store. The store owner already has a profit motive for selling tickets, but the clerks only have motive for doing a good job. As far as Ho guessing at who bought the winning ticke

% of Population Which Play the Lottery?
I voted 75%, but maybe I just want to convince myself that I'm not so different! I meet people everyday who say they never buy tickets, but I'm guessing they might pick up a few when the jackpot is very high. When Florida had that Raffle in Nov for New Year's Day, the 1,250,000 tickets were sold out in about a week. Regarding the article from the government, averages are deceiving. Men women walk on 2 legs. Dogs, cats, horses and other animals walk on 4 legs. So would that mean the

Todd Betslips??
Everything I have heard indicates that Betslips is operating normally. That's my experience too. The fact that I changed the ads around is not an indication of anything. If anyone has relied on the previous ads as a way to navigate to Betslips, I'd recommend setting up a Favorite in your Web browser instead. Generally speaking, the Web is a constantly-changing thing, and it's not a good idea to rely on the content of a Web site staying the same, for that reason. It's better to use your Web

Company proposes new pooling lottery ticket to fight 'jackpot fatigue'
According to their news release at: http://www.poolingplus.com/news1 RMS came up with the marketing idea and name and trade marked it. They wrote a program to do a web survey that lotteries can download but they are expecting lotteries or their vendors to write the software to make the idea work and I assume pay them a royalty fee for using it. In another LP thread a member asked how he could protect his intellectual property, share it and profit from it at the same time, reading this artic

remember the ex-con that got LUCKY in playing the powerball.
I don't think the article was written very well. I don't know what message they were trying to send. Okay, so the guy pissed away all of his money. It doesn't sound like he had any regrets. He donated thousands of dollars to a home for abused children, the local fire department, and for playground equipment. At least he shared a little bit of his fortune with the community. They auctioned off his house to settle an $8,000 debt? Seems a bit harsh.

Where are the 50,000 members?
As others have pointed out, far more people look at stuff on the internet than contribute to it. A good general rule is that in any given forum only a small percentage of the people who come to look will post something. As far as where the 50,000 members are, that seems to be a number based on how many people have registerd since Lottery Post started. As with any other forum, some people will stick around for a while and others will post briefly and disappear. Most of those 50,000 probably wan
