$170 MILLION: Mega Millions back into the realm of monster jackpots
By Todd Northrop As Powerball has been grabbing headlines for its frequent big jackpots, the United States's other huge multi-state game, Mega Millions, has been quietly and steadily increasing its jackpot. Tuesday night we'll find out if the Mega Millions lottery game enters into the realm of $200+ million jackpots, or if an incredibly lucky ticket-holder wins a $170 million jackpot. The lump-sum cash value stands at a staggering $126.7 million. It's been some time since the Mega Mi

Your State Now Having Both Powerball And Mega Millions
The problem with both Powerball and MM is that they both draw money from the states' games--for those states that have jackpot games--as the multi state games tend to develop higher jackpots. Less of this money stays within the state to support the programs funded by state lotteries. The other thing is that Powerball tends to return less money to its players per dollar wagered than does Mega Millions--less bang for your buck. The latest Powerball winner won $47 million after taxes on a jackp

Early talks for a joint Powerball-British lottery game
The states don't lose anything by adding a multi-state lottery, or an international one, if one should come along. The state collects their 50% right off the top, before putting a dime into the prize pool. The worst that happens is that the jackpot is won in another state, and the state doesn't collect any tax on the winnings. That's balanced against the taxes they collect on money spent in another state when the winning ticket is sold in the state. Even if they never sell a jackpot winner, all

Tennesse Lotto Plus= SCAM??
Sounds a lot like the Ohio Classic Lotto game (6/49). Its jackpot is $8.3M now and has gone 50 drawings without a hit since its last hit at $3.0M after 20 drawings without a hit. It still has ball drawings and usually goes up $100K after each drawing too. Years ago Ohio Super Lotto (6/49) went up $4M after each drawing but that was before players had PowerBall and BigGame as an option. State game don't attract the players or the money they did years ago when there were fewer games to play an

Countdown to Powerball in Florida
I'll never understand the 'sharks in a feeding frenzy' reaction to a Multi-state lottery ading another state (except for those who live in the new state and will get a chance to play). All expansion of the game does is make a game with already astronomical odds have even more astronomical odds. There should be laws about only being allowed to expand a matrix so much. Granted, with the new PB matrix one side of the game will be reduced, but watch what happens to the odds against hiting t

Tenn. lawmakers trying to force lottery to switch back to real draws
The main flaw in your logic is that Powerball is the one game that is NOT computerized. If there is a game that has shown integrity through the years, it is Powerball. Powerball is not run by the Tennessee Lottery. It is run by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) in Urbandale, Iowa, and is the oldest multi-state game in the United States. For all I know you may be right about the Tennessee in-state games, like Pick 3, 4, and 5. But not Powerball.

what game does your state NOT have that you wish they did?
Some states have offered options to existing games; like playing the sum and/or front pair, back pair, and middle pair on the Texas Pick-4 and Pick-3. And Powerball offers players the chance to multiply their winnings. These add-ons don't compete with the primary game so the only affect is raising the player base. The standard formula for online games in most states is offering pick-3, pick-4, pick-5, a lotto game, and entering multi-state games like Powerball and Mega Millions. I think Ohi

Some Oklahomans baffled by new Pick 3 lottery game
A manager of a local convenience store shared his insight on the start-up of the state lottery's scratch-off games versus the Pick 3 game which started earlier this month: People can't figure the Pick 3 out, he said. The state has apparently figured that out. Scratch-offs are no-brainers but the Pick 3 requires you to either choose three numbers or let the computer pick them for you.The Oklahoma Lottery Commission is hoping to remedy that problem with some paid advertising messages with a common
