Baltimore man, 81, loses his home after falling for lottery scam
Call me crazy but If I win a JP I will keep on playing, not sure why but I think I will. I have no kids, no wife/ex-wife, not even a girlfriend now. So, the money is about 60% all mine (Uncle Sam wants his share). I'm tempted to build a huge mansion, but then the property taxes would be... ouch! I thought about paying lawyers and accountants too, but they might want a big bite. Will they want more than they are worth? I wish someone actually knew this stuff. I figure, tell only the ones I have t

Would You Still Post Here If . . .
I deleted my FB account about 2 months ago.
Some idiot I was arguing with on another site found out my real name even though I never revealed it, and opened an account on FB impersonating me while asking to be friends with everyone I was friends with. But that wasn't the worst part. This person went as far as writing material that was so vile, disgusting in nature and untrue to get back at me, that I can't even repeat here, and anyone I was friends with was able to see this if they were onlin

1 year later, Iowa Lottery still hunting for suspicious no-show winner
.. And illegal as well. Would'nt that be a blast.
From what l have read- non US citizens get taxed at 30%. There is still some decent change left over but many do not want their names or faces in the public eye. l totally agree.
* On a side note: There was a $52 mil Mega winner from the city l live in and the State lottery officials plastered his mug on TV after just 40 days in a state where you can claim your prize up to a YEAR. They outed the winner and as it turns out people were knocki

Fallacies, and two REAL ways of improving your chances
Initially, I felt this way too. However, I soon came to realize that there are only a few vocal obfuscators here. I call them the squad or the cabal. Some are possibly no more than multiple incarnations of one member. rdgrnr claims he/she is an independent item, but if you review his posts, you will have to wonder what would motivate someone to post what he/she does, where he/she does, as often as he/she does. The simplest explanation is that he/she is a member of the Lottery Post Staff, referre

Arizona Lottery releases name of Powerball jackpot winner
This is exactly why I wouldn't waste my time trying to be anonymous, because the press will find you whether you hide behind an entity or not.
Of course I'd still set up a trust just to make it somewhat difficult for the majority of the public but waiting 2 months plus to collect is a move made by the paranoids of LP members.
Give me my check so I can collect interest, and good luck trying to find me, I wouldn't stay put for long, at least not for the first 6 months..lol
And $289,0

Jersey anonymity
Not just Jersey, but even though of the lottery states there are only four that allow remaining anonymous, isn't not allowing it mostly self-promotion on the part of the lotteries?
Just as a thought, when there are numerous accidents or a tragic death at an intersection or railroad crossing, stop lighgts or signals go up, right?
So how many horror stories before something happens all statess with lotteries?
I keep thinking about this Jersey one year thing and you'd almost have to reloca

Jersey anonymity
It's a step in the right direction, I think, but is there really such a thing as temporary anonymity for a jp winner?
Lottery: Congratulations, you'll be anonymous for one year.
Winner: Then what?
Lottery: Oy vey!
Winner: Well is the lottery going to tell me where a safe house is?
Lottery: We do have one, but we'll hjave to disclose that, too.

if you won would share the news with lp?
I wouldn't tell a soul. It's kind of a catch22... If you go public everyone wants to know who you are and all about you. If you
want to stay anonymous or wait 6 months to claim it, everyone wants to know who you are and all about you. Because if no
one claims the money right away everyone wants to know why, which creates more publicity.
As the saying goes, nobody remembers who came in second, so maybe I'll buy three tickets and hope for just 5 numbers. LOL

N.J. Assembly panel clears one-year anonymity for lottery winners
haymaker,
...for instance, statewide casino gambling was proposed in 74 and failed,...
Oh there were casinos but the guys running them didn't want competition from legal casinos, and made some politicians 'offers they couldn't refuse', and greased some palms along with that.
Not Jersey but NY, one of the guys I worked with when I first got to Vegas learned to deal in NYC....the casino where he worked was on the 3rd floor of a building with a NYPD precinct HQ on the first floor.

How long do people wait before cashing in a big win?
no massive jackpots, here, and no complicated tax problems. did I mention the tick box to remain anonymous on the back of the ticket. there is a 6 week claim time while they do what ever security checks they need to to see if you are actually the owner of the ticket. or that there is no other claimant out there.
so after you submit the ticket should be 6 weeks, wait, then either a cheque or bank wire.
so for us its ASAP. and during that 6 weeks seek out financial planning advice, etc.
