Unclaimed lottery tickets
There was an article not showing on here yet about a $2 scratch-off in Indiana that won a $5 prize. The winner missed the deadline because the game ended without their knowledge. They sued. The cost to the Hoosier Lottery is hundreds of thousands and the $5 winner is now ending up with $15K! As long as money is available to pay the prize, there should be at least 5 years or more. For that matter I think stores should post some kind of list showing that winning tickets were sold there and stil

Writing about online gambling now illegal in WA state
From the article dvdiva posted the link to: The state's gone from trying to control gambling, which is legit, to trying to control people speaking about gambling. It's hard to take coming from a state that bombards us with pitches for the biggest sucker's bet of all. You know, the one they call the lottery.

Protecting your numbers
There is no rule engraved in stone that says you can not win more than once, so be open to the possibility. Also when you start winning smaller amounts it is most of the time indicative that you're warming up on a winning streak so greet those small wins with joy and delight so more can be on the way and not stopped by a negative attitude of disappointment. Read many years ago in the defunct Lotto World magazine that people who choose their own numbers win more often with those .... although

LP members and lottery beliefs
I think it's all luck too, but who's to say? The only reason I chose luck is that so many people who never played before win the lottery, and many of them buy quickpicks. If you're talking about the pick 3 or 4 games, maybe a little skill is involved using a lottery system. I'd even stretch that to include Fantasy 5, although most tickets that win are QPs. I check the press releases regularly, and that's what I see on the FL web site. However, there are too many winning combinations to even

Lottery company used 'sucker lists' to target elderly
I agree with everyone who has posted so far. Shame on these people for scamming innocent victims. Also, Bryan is correct in assuming that just because a person is older, he isn't necessarily naive or gullible. Uff Da also has a good point, because so many elderly have recently lost a spouse and are facing decisions they never made before. However, the article reads: Using so-called sucker lists lists of consumers who had been defrauded by telemarketers in the past So these parasites

Employee charged with stealing lottery tickets
The store owner had a system of tracking ticket sales that was helpful in determining which tickets were stolen, Pinner related. I know everyone here is saying she is stupid, and I agree 100%. However, the word that first came to mind was desperate since someone went through all of this for $100 bucks. The reason I quoted the above line from the article, is that I thought all terminals could track this, and really have to simply by design. Every FL ticket I get has all sorts of cod

Ripsnorter
I learned yesterday that a ripsnorter is a real word -- how clever Jack is! I saw the word in a newspaper article about a spelling bee. It was one of the words they had to spell. It is slang for One that is remarkable for strength, intensity, or excellence. Here's the full definition: http://www.answers.com/ripsnorter r=67 Am I the only one who didn't know it was a real word?

interesting article
Hi JustXploring, Yes, it definitely seems somewhat amazing to think one can will a number to hit. But then and again, the man in the article has had an above average success rate. I think he won every possible combo for CA lotto (ie 3/6, 4/6 5/6 6/6) as well as other smaller prizes. In my life I have found that belief can make a big difference. I think with the lottery however, most of us subconsciously expect to lose. It's conditioned into us as we lose on a regular basis. Whether or not

interesting article
Hey kjsfriend, In case you forgot, this is the MYSTICAL FORUM, for people who enjoy such discourse (which judging from your post you do not). Did you even read the article? Be a bit humble? Are you kidding me? All I did was post a link. Have a nice day.

Ohio lottery winner to share winnings
In the entire history of the lottery there has never been a news article that reported the amount left after taxes. News articles report the amount after the withholdings required by state and federal law. State laws vary, but the federal withholding requirement is 25%. If a winner doesn't want all of the money they can always make charitable donations and they'll only owe taxes on the remainder. Charitable donations are certainly a good thing, but they reduce what a winner actually ends up wit
