Online Lottery Soon to be Illegal/new law
This isn't the first time this subject has been discussed on LP. In fact, I didn't see the video, but someone gave a URL for articles on MSNBC and the newest article was in 2004.
Concerning if it is now illegal ... yes, but only for the businesses that are doing it, NOT the people that are betting. That will change if the new law goes into effect. The businesses that are overseas can not be touched by the United States, so that is why it is going on right now.
The way I understand the

Rising Gas Prices Not Helping Lottery Ticket Sales
The NC Lottery has admitted and directly that their scratch payout % is lower than the surrounding states. It was in the papers, the news and there's a news article right here on LP about it. It's due to the 35% going to education.
They wrote it into Lottery law when there was so much pressure from everybody and I think maybe it had to be in order to even get the commission members yes vote to pass the NC Lottery. I rather that scratch offs are lower than pick 3 and 4 and I rather have

Lotto Documentary
To begin, I would like to start small. I would like to conduct interviews at my local convience store with all the older, poorer people that habitually buy lottery tickets.
There was a skit on the Carlos Mencia Show the other day: What do you feed your kids lady??? Losing Lotery Tickets...lol. Then there was also an article I once read that called the lottery a tax on stupid people. Lotto players seem to get stereotyped for some reason.
Most everyone I know who buys lotto tickets i

states with no lottery
I voted "arkansas." That state seems to have the most activity at the moment. See the news article "AG certifies proposed amendment for casinos, lottery."
However, I doubt that any of the states listed in this poll will have a lottery within the next five years, if ever. Certainly not Alabama. If you think the fight over the lottery in North Carolina was ugly, just wait until it's brought up again here.

Florida Lotto winner shot

I totally agree with your statement. Was he standing on his on property when he was shot? He could possibly have a lawsuit against the police department, although he doesn't need the money. No offense to any cops on this board, but I wonder if this man really turned in a threatening manner or they were too quick to shoot. The art

Florida lottery winners indicted on tax charge
Quote: Originally posted by TheGameGrl on April 14, 2006 The Toths opted to receive their $13 million share in annual payments of $666,666 until 2010. They were excited, but worried.
Correct me here, but I am sure that 2010 hasnt transpired yet. That being the case they still have an opportunity to settle with the IRS on the TRUE debt owed (if any). As a natural skeptic when reading any media I would like to believe there is more to this story then is being told. Best to live and learn fro

Winning a lottery jackpot can't guarantee happiness
Hi, Jim. I don't know if you are responding to my post, but I always think of the FL Lottery, not PB or MM. The news would be more local in that case. Plus, the above article isn't just talking about the $300M winners. I read the paper and watch the new everyday and have no idea who won $5M 2 years ago. I would agree 100% with what you wrote if that person decides to live and work in the same area. Some people would never be able to just pack up and split, because of ties to the community. It wo

Winning a lottery jackpot can't guarantee happiness
We were posting at the same time, so I didn't see your comment. I've written a similar response. You'll never change Cash Only's mind, since this is his mission! I worked most of my life for a company and was always super responsible with an 800 credit score, etc. and then my life went down the toilet very quickly. So I know what can happen to good investments if you don't get sound advice and how illness or depression can drain your savings. Some people need the discipline and security of an

Man charged with forging lottery ticket claims it was a joke
"As I've said in many posts about various articles, we don't know what really happened except what is reported..."
The comments that follow an article are based on the "facts" that are presented in the story. I agree that "facts" are often misrepresented in the press and should be taken with a grain of salt. Unless people want to do their own research into the matter, it is the original story on which they will base their comments. The original story, whether factual or false, is what's be

Man charged with forging lottery ticket claims it was a joke
First of all, that's not a riddle. It's merely a question of Mr. Joe Average being able to determine a counterfeit bill from the genuine article. Second, the gentleman that tried to cash the ticket seems to have been duped and perhaps should be exonerated. I won't speculate as to his innocence. The guy that made the fake, having allowed the first person to attempt to cash the ticket should be charged with fraud and attempted grand larceny. It sounds as though he genuinely wanted to defraud the
