Yeah, players seem to be turning up their noses to these paltry $200 million jackpots lol. Me, I play anytime it's $50m or better, which is almost always the case with PB's larger starting jackpot.

Thanks for the explanation. Now it makes sense why tickets will offer different multipliers - presumably, to better limit prize liability. Seems to me, lotteries are getting worried about the future of Powerball and Mega Millions. The per draw sales, even at the $100 million jackpot level, aren't all that great. Somebody (don't know whom) convinced the state lottery executives that players wanted smaller jackpots with more chances to win $1 million and would gladly pay $5 a ticket. So it should be simple for a US El Gordo proponent to convince the lottery brass to offer $243 a ticket game.

It's interesting how PB sells more tickets for a Saturday drawing than for the next Wednesday drawing and that trend continues into the mid $100 jackpot range. Less then 25 million tickets were sold for the $203 million jackpot last month which probably means players are waiting for much higher jackpots to start the ticket buying frenzy.

They can only increase sales by making the games almost impossible to win. This year, MM only had two jackpots over 300mill and PB had 1 over 300mill. Players don't get excited until it's at least 400mill.
