Pray that you don't win. Actually, NY Lotto is a RIPOFF because the prize pool is only 40% of sales, which explains why 3-of-6 wins YOUR DOLLAR BACK. I thought you wanted to wait until a $500 million jackpot. Better try your luck in Canada (all CASH, no withholdings). You CANNOT change your mind in NY...which means if the Brooklyn ticket is for annuity, they're SOL.

It seems there's a law against everything a person might do. The way this law reads, if I mail my winning ticket (double-registered) to the lottery corp to claim my winnings I could be spending those winnings, minus the fine, in the crowbar hotel!Only in America, land of opportunity. Not a problem in Canada.

I follow the results of many of the big lotto's world-wide on a daily basis. I don't usually follow the pick 3's, but the results are always there, so I see them. A few weeks back I saw a BC(Canada) 111 pick 3 win. A couple of days ago in California, again 111.

But do they pay Canadian federal income tax on lottery winnings? And if one of those rude Yankies from the South won, what would his/her taxes be in Canada(federal/province) and U.S. (federal/state)? Well, if it climbs to $500,000,000(US)+, I would actually start to care about these questions. Not gonna' drive 150+ miles to play in that 'tiny' jackpot.
