Lottery winner's lifetime of money gone in weeks
A few weeks before Thanksgiving, staff at the Loving Care assisted living facility in St. Petersburg realized something had changed in Malcolm Ramsey's life.
Relatives who had never paid much attention to Ramsey, 55 and mentally incompetent, suddenly started showing up in droves. Bulging bags from T.J. Maxx and Bealls filled his half of a tiny, shared bedroom. Boxes of new athletic shoes Nike, New Balance, K-Swiss towered against the wall.
Then there were the rumors that Ramsey had hit it

if you as a regular LP member won the MM JP- would you frequent the forum again or it it "See Ya?"
When I win tonight, yes I would check back on this forum from time to time. I would even let you all know that I won the big one. I would just want to prepare you all for the story I would tell during the press conference, and that is that it was my first time playing the lottery and I only decided to buy that ticket. Just kidding...I would say it is about time a 20 year lottery player finally won it instead of all these so called first time, infrequent players. Now I won't allow my face to be s

What future Republican president would have the courage to write an executive order to totally ban a
Thanks for the comp MikeInTexas. You did call the extra taxes coming on lottery winners. You were right also on the Federal Government spending 90 million dollars every 12 minutes.
What do you think about John Boehner and Paul Ryan releasing Obama from the sequestration spending cuts that he signed in 2011? They just gave Obama an open checkbook for the rest of his term. They claim the new plan will save 23 billion over 10 years. We spend 1 TRILLION more than we take in taxes every year. That

$344 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot skyrockets
I agree with most that say always take the cash.
The annuity is mainly a gimmick to inflate the Jackpot for sales and marketing purposes...and it works!
It may have made more sense in the old days, with state lottos and when jackpots were smaller. With a smaller jackpot under $10M, there is some tax advantage with smaller annual payments falling under the top tax bracket. But now with huge jackpots of a few hundred million, that disappears.
I agree that it can seem scary when the jackpo

All I know is China isn't dumb.Irregardless what party the presidents have been from, there came a tipping point a while back to let the world
economies gradually crash to employ a one world currency. This is hardly a conspiracy.Everything up till now clearly supports that notion.
...add to that the extreme dumbing down of the entire population(and cleverly forcing you) to buying into their 'data mining' gizmos doesn't sum up to a good ending.

Semi private jets
Do you really think you're getting reliable info?
You can sometimes get a killer deal when somebody has to fly a jet and doesn't have other passengers booked, because flying an empty plane is only marginally less expensive than flying one with 1000 to 1500 pounds of passenger and cargo. It's like picking up a hitchhiker for $10 in gas money when you're already going somewhere.
Just for fun I checked the price for a r/t flight from Newark to Houston, since that's what my last flight was. I

New Mexico Lottery suddenly terminates CEO
Board provides no explanation for action
The New Mexico Lottery's board of directors has voted to terminate the contract of chief executive officer Tom Romero, effective immediately.
Romero had been the lottery's executive vice president of security since its inception in 1996 and CEO since November 2006.
The seven-member, governor-appointed Lottery Authority Board voted unanimously to terminate Romero's contract Wednesday.
No reason was immediately given for the move and board membe

Twelve things not to do if you win the lottery
True, but the small print at the bottom of form tells a slightly different story. The signer must declare under the penalty of perjury that no other party is entitled to any part of the payment. State lotteries have different rules and security methods and the News Forum is full of stories about winners who didn't buy the ticket and declared that no other party is entitled to any part of the payment . Wouldn't it be common sense to ask a jackpot winner if they purchased the ticket and if not how
