Instead of getting the whole jackpot, you'd get two halves of the jackpot. The only practical difference from a single ticket win is that if you wanted to, you could take the lump sum for one ticket and the annuity for the other.

It's trickery MG. The advertised jackpot is what you win over a 25 year period. It's to Thier advantage to pay it out that way. The lump sum is what the annuity would cost for the 25 years.( Only makes sense if your young.) Majority take the cash value, half the advertised jackpot.

I will never understand the reasoning behind punishing a player just because they would prefer to collect their winnings now instead of a 25-year annuity. Thanks for breaking it down even further for us simpletons lol. When the person I know who won $1 million on 500x said their annuity option was 25 years I was taken aback because in the past it was 20 years, so that definitely changed. So definitely worth sticking with older tickets for better payouts.
