Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich answers your questions
For a multi-state game, all of the lotteries in that game make the decision together. If it is an in-state game, that lottery makes the decisions and rules regarding its own particular game.

New England's Lucky For Life.
Actually I should qualify the above statement a bit. Prior to March 2012 L4L was only played in Connecticut. When I said there was a JP winner in the first drawing of this game I should have said that there was a first drawing JP winner when the game went multi-state (Including all of New England). Back then the game was referred to as New England's Game until the recent expansion to include other states from all over the US.

Mega Millions Game Coming to Florida?
It looks like the Mega Millions multi-state game is coming to Florida. The latest Florida Lottery Flamingo Forum consumer survey highlighted Mega Millions questions including how best to distinguish Mega Millions from Florida's current Mega Money game, probably requiring a name and logo change for Mega Money to reduce confusion in Florida over the two games once Mega Millions goes live...

Do new games cannibalize other games?
Depending on the game, cannibalization can actually be quite severe. Take for example whenever a larger state joins a multi-state game. The in-state game almost always takes a severe decline in sales, in some cases prompting the state to replace it with a niche game.

Powerball Jackpot Jumps to $20 Million
powerball has the trademark of america's game . they also have the patent on the multi-state game, so i'm guessing mega millions is paying the MUSL quite a bit of money. the MUSL should have patented the game style as well. that way, mega millions wouldn't be able to use the same game style.

Large lottery jackpots mean more big bucks for Ohio
Ohio lottery officials hit the jackpot yesterday, as Mega Millions fever brought in about $148,000 an hour for the state. The multi-state game was already outperforming fiscal year 2003 levels, according to Ohio Lottery Commission officials, and the recent surge of sales due to Friday's $222 million jackpot has helped the state's bottom line even more. Everything seems to be falling in place for us, said Mardele Cohen, spokeswoman for the Ohio Lottery Commission. We needed a big winner in Ohio,

Ohio Lottery Players
RJ: Since you live in Ohio, I live in New York, and we're separated by Pennsylvania, those of us who live in one of these states need to push the three state lotteries to allow a multi-state game, and/or improve the marquee jackpot game from each lottery. The NY Legislature prohibits the NY Lotto game from returning more than 40% of sales in prizes, and, the PA Super-6 game does not allow players to select all their numbers (you get three games for a dollar, but, 2/3 of your games must be QUIC
