Lottery Post is excited to announce that on Monday, January 11th at 8:00 pm Eastern Time (5:00 pm Pacific), Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich will be answering YOUR questions LIVE at Lottery Post!
With the unsettling Eddie Tipton computerized drawing scandal that was unearthed in Iowa, and is now sending shockwaves throughout the rest of the United States lotteries, I asked Terry to answer real questions about this topic by Lottery Post members. Lotto History
From the Missouri lottery website:
The first lottery with cash prizes dates back to 1490, two years before Columbus set sail. Lotteries were authorized to raise money for the colonial army. In addition, a lottery helped put a roof on the United States Capitol. Lotteries also helped build educational institutions like Harvard, Yale and Princeton universities.
It wasn t until 1964 that the modern lottery era began in New Hampshire, and since that time, lotteries have brough

Article: Lotteries still directed to poor
The Illinois lottery put an ad on a billboard above a poor Chicago neighborhood with the slogan, This could be your way out. What they did not say is that the odds of winning the lottery can be as much as 20 million to one, ridiculously higher than the casino slot machine odds of 20 to one. Who is Tina Gianoulis, what is her expertise about lotteries, and where is she getting her information?According to the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, Duane V. Burke, CEO C

blew the money
Quote: Originally posted by four4me on March 26, 2004 Bobp I personally know of many people with gambling problems who have hit the lottery for a million dollars and after taxes which in Maryland is a whopping 27% who squandered it all at the casino's and race track. Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich to answer your questions on Lottery Post Monday evening!
I can also tell you personally that I sat down with Terry this past summer at the NASPL conference in Seattle and spoke with him privately about the computerized drawing scandal, as well as a few other topics. I was impressed with his genuine interest in what Lottery Post members and visitors thought about this important topic, and he stressed the importance of Lottery Post itself, in how it allows the lotteries to hear and understand what lottery players think and feel about the lottery indust

Powerball Matrix Change - April 15, 2015
Glad I could share!
Now it makes no sense to ever spend the extra dollar since 2nd place would only be 500,000 and getting 5 numbers with the powerball would be 10 million.
At this point I still believe that Power Up will be a separate drawing; this reconciles some of the information I heard at the conference this year regarding increasing the matrix and adding a second-chance element. So in that case, there would be the main drawing and even if you lose, it is possible you could win the

Girl struck by lightning, wins lottery
Myth #1: Odds of being struck by lightning are better than the odds of winning a lottery.
This myth was mathematically debunked by Iowa Lottery Commissioner Ed Stanek (who has a doctorate in physics) in an October 1997 issue of Public Gaming International magazine.
Statistics gathered by NASPL as well indicate that in one year alone (1996) 1,136 people won a million dollars or more and an additional 4,520 won $100,000 or more by playing North American lotteries. By contrast, 91 peopl

pts vs physical playing
The real reason for not mailing tickets has to do with corruption in the Louisiana lottery. Lotteries had problems with large scale corruption since it was private parties selling tickets not state governments. Every state had banned lotteries because of this except Louisiana. Advertisements for the Louisana lottery would appear in other states and that led to the ban on mailing tickets.
