'Most dangerous' sex offender wins $10M lottery jackpot
I can only say I didn't win, so who cares who did.
You can't really make a law about criminals not being able to collect legitimate winnings because they would just hand the ticket to their mother or a pal who would cash it in and slip them money under the table. They could probably do it to avoid lawsuits if they felt they were going to be sued.
One interesting thing to me is that he apparently consulted a lawyer before claiming his prize, but the lawyer did not advise him to pick the m

Payment of Lottery Prizes
I was just curious, since I've often read press releases where someone wins a big jackpot in late Dec and claims the prize immediately and thought Why didn't he just wait a few days?
Let's say you win $50 million (and it will be really neat if do). The IRS deducts 25% or $12.5 million for taxes but you'll probably owe another 10% when you file your taxes. If the claim is for December 2007, you'll have to pay the $5 million by April 15, 2007, but if the claim is in January of 2008, the $5

Really be anonymous ( powerball)
I guess a disguise would work, but having a sex change operation would probably be the best way to hide your identity.
With the exception of a handful of states, you cannot remain anonymous. So anyone who really cares will know you won. Most people don't pay attention to who won the lottery. I mean, if you go to the store you might hear Hey, did you hear about the guy who won... but nobody really knows his name.
Since we're on this board and we all buy tickets (I assume) it's more i

pick 3 lottery card
I think we should be able to play numbers through a machine similar to an ATM. That would take care of the interstate gambling rule or using a credit card to purchase tickets and it could be completely anonymous.
Race tracks with off-track betting have that type of machines that take cash or you can get a ticket voucher from the betting window. You can bet the horses in California or the dogs in Florida from a track in West Virginia, Ohio, or Pennsylvania. Each track gets a percentage of t

TODAY'S POLL: Scenarios of remaining anonymous
I live in Indiana which does not allow an anonymous winner. However, 2 people have claimed prizes as a Trust and not had their names released so I that gives me some hope that if I ever win I can stay out of the press. The problem is according to law in Indiana the Executive Director has the sole discretionary authority to release the name of the winner here. So even if you do claim as a Trust with a nondescript name your name might still be released to the public.
It will be interesting

7-7-7 was a lucky day!!
(a) If he was a real winner, I'm sure he didn't appreciate all the criticism. Yes, I also posted my suspicions.
(b) If he wasn't a real winner, then he had his fun and decided he couldn't keep up the charade.
(c) He finally came down to Earth and said What the heck am I doing posting when I should be out celebrating with my family?
(d) After you started asking for money he realized it was best to keep his mouth shut stay anonymous.
My guess is B

Exactly What Kind of Professionals Do I Need?
Well, I kinda doubt that story. After he claimed the prize, he ducked local reporters. Not only did he refuse a press conference, but he had some people out front of the lottery office to distract reporters while he left in a car waiting out the back door so they couldn't even get photographs of him. So instead, the media got ahold of the security tape of when he got the ticket checked, and I don't remember see any girl whirling around with the ticket.
Also, I think I've heard people her

You win a jackpot and have to appear at a press conference
Y'know how everybody's always talking about how winners should be allowed to remain anonymous no matter where they live?
Anybody brave enough to take a bullet for the cause?
Show up without having showered, shaved, brushed your teeth, or combed your hair for a week. Wear the same clothes you slept in which should be dirty. Spit chaw every 5 seconds, have bad aim and occasionally and hit a lottery official. No matter what question the press asks you, tell them what rotten SOBs the lot

Why some jackpot winners blow it
When I worked in the casinos, we would constantly hear players telling other players, I'll get you lunch, watch this. Then they'd call the floor supervisor and ask for comps for the table.
I believe this type of person is much more likely to spend a large portion of their jackpot winnings playing the role because they will a big shot until the money is gone.
I think that some jackpot winners that blow it all or blow a lot of it do so because of other people.
When I read some of

what would you do with 100 million dollars?
$100 million? I just want the interest, Mike. You can take the rest. LOL
oops..are posts on an anonymous web site binding? just in case, changed my emoticon to a wink!
But your honor, she said she'd give $100 million to my client. It's on Lottery Post.
Objection! It's clear that the LOL and smiley next to her statement indicate that my defendant is winking.
