Lotto Fallacies
The question was How come these so called 'better numbers' haven't won jackpots. I've never heard a winner say they played 'better numbers', have you? but they never explained what they meant by so called better numbers because it should be obvious the most frequently drawn numbers were the better numbers compared to numbers not drawn. I can only assume when a lottery player picks and plays their numbers it's because they believe they are the best numbers.
Also by picking my own combinations

Lucky Va. couple claims three major lottery prizes in one month
It's like MM and PB, some states advertise annuity values as their jackpots even on scratch tickets. In California, if you win $1 million on $10 scratchers, that's what you win, period (minus taxes). So, no one gets the $319K, it's just marketing. I don't think it'll ever change for jackpot games for obvious reasons, but unless we're talking about Lucky for Life type instant games with weekly payments, advertising scratcher games with annuity values is misleading in my opinion..

Why no news that new york won $20 MM jackpot?
Why should anyone care? Most state lotteries have larger jackpots with better odds. Ohio's Classic Lotto has a jackpot of ~$65M with odds of 1:14M.

Do you wager the same amount regardless of the size of either jackpot?
Increase when higher jackpots. Don't play unless it has reached a certain point, 200 on MM and 300 on PB. And don't play if my european lotteries have better cost/jackpot-ratio, even if jackpot are way lower. My swedish Lotto has a startjackpot of 3 mil sek, equals $450k...

Do you wager the same amount regardless of the size of either jackpot?
When the JP's are at their base as both the MM and PB are now I will play my set of always play numbers. As the jackpots increase to the $300 - $400 million I will add additional numbers and a few QP's.

Powerball
Somebody last night won the 96 million dollar PB from Missouri. We are getting so conditioned to go for the higher jackpots that anything under 100 million are not even news worthy anymore.

Megamillions and Powerball Games
I like powerball because I have hit four numbers in the past once for a $100 win. I like how the jackpots rise faster than mega millions too. So I bet my $2 on powerball and I have been chasing that jackpot for 17 years. So maybe I will hit the cool million this year that would be awesome.-weshar75

2 winning Mega Millions tickets sold in Florida, Maryland to split $414M jackpot
Yeah, the last few rolls had disappointing increases. I think another factor is the fact that these large jackpots aren't rare anymore, it's almost like a once in every 3-month occurrence. If people missed out on this one, there's another big one sure to come along soon.

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
Considering the odds of hitting $500 on most $5 tickets are about 1 in 3,000 or so, I'd say the odds on the Frenzy game are obviously far better. I like the elimination of the $6 prize tier in favor of $10. I also like the idea of lower jackpots with exponentially better odds; $500 is nothing to sneeze at. However, I wouldn't chase that prize. The last thing you want to do is spend $500--or more--and only have $50 be your biggest win or something.
