All your details can have lots of rebuttal. I just don't want to do it here. A few things, though: Less defense spending and higher taxes for those who can afford it (the top 1% has more wealth than the bottom 90% together) will help pay for a stronger social safety net. Taxes are a part of life, so the government isn't forcing anyone to do anything. If I was rich, I would certainly have no problem paying more. Just for the record, those Air Traffic Controllers (I knew one of them) signed a contract agreeing that they could never go on strike. Shutting down air traffic and holding the nation hostage for higher wages was a matter of national security. They were already making a ton of money compared to other unions. They broke their bond, they violated their trust, they went back on their word. President Reagan gave them a chance to return to work while continuing negotiations. They refused.

We are in a strange point in the history of this country where many are concerned if the country of the dollar can survive. I don't want to start controversy on the wisdom of it but we put in huge debt to stop the collapse of this country. I don't think that we can survive another 2008.
