If you go the LLC or Trust route...
You are correct. I've thought the same thing. Why claim in an LLC if there wasn't some personal advantage to doing so? I've had about 3 LLCs and I still can't figure out what the great advantage would be for a lottery winner. I've been told that it's merely a buffer name between yourself and the money. But I personally don't get why anyone would go through the bother. In the states that I had my LLC, my name was just a click away. By state law, a legal name had to be given and it could not be an

Va. grocery store worker's lottery ticket mistake turns into $7 million grand prize
Can I remain anonymous when I claim my lottery winnings? When you win the Lottery in Virginia, it s not a secret! Your name, hometown, prize amount, date of win and where you bought the ticket are all public record. In addition, if you win a larger or unusual prize, we post a news release with your photo (yes, your photo will be taken when you collect that prize). The news release and photo can be posted on our website, Facebook page, other social media platforms like Twitter, or other

Georgia Lottery winner killed during home invasion
His age and probable elation and disbelief over winning a large sum of money most likely played a big part in who knew. 20 years old? There are things you trust in that you shouldn't and friends thrown in the mix of the same age do not help matters. Even if he chose to remain anonymous, at the least, his girlfriend knew. It's awesome to read he shared by giving gifts at Christmas and had he been alive longer, he probably would have continued sharing. Such a shame to

Lottery officials say identifying winners a must
Traverso said. If people don't see people winning the lottery, then they won't buy tickets. ... Would you please back your baseless assertions with facts Mr Traverso ? $900 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot to create unimaginable wealth
Good evening everyone! Do you think there will be at least one winner tonight or, will there be yet another rollover?! Will tonight's (or Wed night in the event there's a rollover)Winner(s) be able to remain anonymous even if they collect via trust? How long after the drawing until it is known whether there was a winner, how much did they actually win? And, if there was no winner, how much will the starting jackpot be for Wednesday night's draw? I guess that it is going to be a

$400 MILLION: Powerball jackpot surges on rollover
So you want to preserve your health after winning the lottery by remaining anonymous. Ok. Your health and safety really means that much to you right? Then why do you keep eating meat, fish, eggs, butter, and cows milk which will surely cause heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, cancer, and diabetes? Think about it. I win the lottery and give a press conference and stay vegan. You don't win the lottery and keeping eating those animal products. Who is morely likely to suffer pain? Glad yo

Man in Iraq wins $6.4 million Oregon Lottery jackpot
So, if they will let this guy stay anonymous because the win might put him in danger, why won't they extend the same courtesy to US??? Because the danger to US is mostly in your head, whereas the danger to a lottery winner living in Iraq is much more likely to be real. In case there's any confusion, the lottery decided not to release his name because he lives in Iraq, not because he's Iraqi. I expect that if you move to Iraq (or a number of other places) before claiming a prize you could

Why is it so difficult for some to...
Yea, I made the trip, I got 6 advance draw PB W/PP my last PB tix. Then after looking at the football parlay card and saying pass on that, I returned to the counter and asked for 10 advance draw MM W/MP. My wife didn't hear what I asked for but said I want the same thing she doesn't play the MP but she has it now, so we have 2 lines for each of the next 10 draws. Anonymous...yea...I'll take it.

North Carolina powerball winner arrested
I think a lottery winner has to be careful about a lot of things, but from my reading and research (about anonymous claiming), there are four major dangers one would need to guard against: 4. Strangers - people they don't know - out to rob them of their money. It's rare, but it has happened. 3. Trusting the money to shady investment firms and allowing them or someone else to have total control of the funds. 2. The winner's family. (or even close friends) This can be a threat th

$136M Powerball winner sued for 'dooring' cyclist
A perfect example for why jackpot winners should be allowed to remain anonymous. If your win is publicized, some one, somewhere, some how, is going to be looking for a payday. Now, common sense tells me, if I'm on a bicycle in a bike lane, and I DON'T want to run into someone's car door, I ride far enough away from the cars that it won't happen. DUH!!! It is the same thing you do when walking down the aisle of a parking lot. If you hear a car motor running, a car start up, or you see
