$290 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot rolls again
Well, then of course there's the group pool I'm in at work---27 of us I believe. That'd be a blast (or maybe NOT)...

$290 million Mega Million Jackpot ($205.5 Cash Value)
We have a pool going at work, $20 per person to join. We have about 7 people right now, will try and get more tomorrow, lol. Going to try and get at least 10 people total and will go out of state to get tickets. Probably West Virginia or Maryland since no body ever hits here in Virginia. Dont know if I should buy tickets tomorrow evening or the evening before the draw :\

$241 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery frenzy ramps up
you run a pool with 100 players so you can all win 1 million apiece before taxes. seems like a lot of work to just get a bunch of extra losing tickets and worry about who didn't pay and collecting the money etc. pools are for fools especially when you have over 10 participants. problems will arise if somehow you hit it.

$241 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery frenzy ramps up
Wow - In all the time I've run my pool (100 Players - Minimum $100 Million Jackpot10 years now...) - I've never seen such low numbers all clustered together. I realize all combinations have an equal chance of coming out - but this combination (1, 4, 6, 11, 14 M30) looks more like a Birthday Calendar than anything else. Anyway - We'll know in about 30 minutes if anyone had this combo.

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
Imagine every ticket played for any particular drawing as one massive lottery pool. Every drawing is a massive pool, except that if there's a winner they don't have to share the prize. The odds of a winner are based entirely on how many combinations are played, not who bought the individual tickets. How many tickets played would that be, and applying your fraction theory to those tickets played, heck someone would have to win, no? My fraction theory is that selling 17.5 million tick

Wow, now that was very helpful ... in all my years of playing (feels like 100) I've never looked at it that way! Will have to go back to the history and check! Especially since I'm always looking for triggers ... Interesting enough my upcoming pool was shaping up to 6, 10, 19, 29, 33, 39. Thnx.

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
RL-RANDOMLOGIC, No matter how many chances are bought ech and everyone of those chances are up against the same odds......unless they are drawing more than one set of winning numbers. Medibrat, There was a thread similar to this about six years ago, but the gist of that thread was cutting the odds in half . Much of the discussion was at odds of 175M to 1, a second dollar played would reduce them to 87.5M to 1, same discussion as this. But some of those proposing that said that the secon

NJ man sued over $38.5M lottery ticket
People joining a pool of co-workers and friends expect a lot more for free than those syndicates in the UK are charging for. Those syndicates expect to be paid a lot more than the actual cost of the tickets and they aren't a friend you can expect to cover for you if you are a little late or short with money.

NJ man sued over $38.5M lottery ticket
I used to be a believer that pooling money together would be a great idea because many people are able to buy a whole lot more tickets than an individual but not any more. I think the only pool I'd join would have to be like those that are done over in the UK, complete with syndicate rules and agreements and signatures and run professionally by a manager. But maybe not. Many people win by themselves and I think its much easier that way.

NJ man sued over $38.5M lottery ticket
I always thought about joining a pool, but this case is making me think otherwise. Unless you are the one running it, you really have to put your trust into people. That guy seems like he was willing to reall jip 5 people out of their fair share of the money. How can someone who just got sooo lucky by winning the lotto want to bring such bad karma back to them by doing something like that?
