Impact of "Free Money" on Lottery Spending
During the Covid Era and the ensuing Stimulus Checks, there was arguments that the free money was driving lottery sales and the massive jackpots that we saw.
Fast forward 2026 - with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and the Tax incentives - no taxes on over time and tips etc, and with the Tax season almost coming to an end, are we likely to see increased spending on the lottery from the Tax Refunds ?
It's the first time in 3 years that I have had a tax refund, I am always paying extra taxe

It looks as if the $5.00 MM ticket is doing poorly.
It took 40 draws, 5 months, to generate an annuity jackpot still sub billion. This is the longest series of rollovers ever recorded for Mega Millions. The Texas lottery, using an estimated sales figures translated into what are presumably Poisson distribution calculations, indicated that the probability of forty rollovers was less than 35%.
It follows if one does simple math that more than 40 rollovers would be required to reach annuity jackpots over a billion dollars, and thus is unlik

Winner of $877,800 Idaho Cash jackpot is infamous bulk buyer
When you buy a ticket for a progressive jackpot game, you have no right to receive a refund of the progressive jackpot contribution. Anyone who expects to get their lost money back should never play this game.
The entire point of the game is that your ticket price includes a contribution to the jackpot which will go to the winner. Whether it's your neighbor or an out-of-state visitor is irrelevant.
If the state lottery doesn't want someone to win a progressive jackpot who didn't buy any

Arkansas lottery winner of $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot comes forward
Congrats to the lucky winner.
You know I've been thinking lately ..... in your estimation considering all factors: MM $5 .... Tues/Fri vs PB $2 to $3 .... Mon Wed Sat how much of a lead in jackpot would MM need for PB NOT to eventually match and surpass that jackpot and go on to a mega like Castro/Cal?
I know I am not making my thoughts clear so let me put it this way: last night PB was 209 mil ..... and Fridays MM is 266 mil. For arguments sake let's say no one won pb last night .... an

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I don't think it's because of the third drawing in a week. People tend to buy lottery tickets on a per-week basis, not a per-drawing basis.
I suspect that many people who were buying multiple tickets for the Wednesday and Saturday drawings stuck with the same weekly expenditure or maybe added one more ticket. A lot of other players were probably the ones that have to have their chance, even if it's only one ticket, so that's a lot of people that started spending 50% more.
Whatever the

MUSL to launch "X's and O's," a new multi-state Powerball NFL game
New game to focus on experiential prizes over jackpots
By Kate Northrop
A new multi-state lottery game coming later this year will take two of America's favorite things Powerball and football and smash them together.
The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) has announced a new multi-state Powerball game in partnership with the National Football League (NFL) called X's and O's.
Players can expect to see the new game coming later this year, which will focus on awarding players w

$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
I would like to make special mention of the #24 jackpot on the annuity list, since it is close to falling off the list.
Long-timers here may remember what an incredible watershed time that was, when Mega Millions hit $656 million. By the afternoon of the drawing, the jackpot was bumped up to $640 million. Check out the level of excitement in the story and comments: https://www.lotterypost.com/news/244310
By draw time, when the final sales were calculated, the jackpot settled at $65

Florida's Fantasy 5
I realize that from a FF5 players perspective going to two draws per day flat out stinks, and that me posting all of the hidden benefits for the Florida Lottery doesn't make it any better for players.
However there is one more thing I'd like to say and then I'll stop my long winded rants. I think in 2020 (not sure if that's the correct year or not, but if it's not 2020 then it's close to 2020) The New York Lottery implemented two drawings per day for their Pick5 game, Take5. Take5 is close t

$1.1 BILLION: Powerball jackpot increased in longest-ever winless streak
When you look at the top 11 jackpots on the list, it looks like it's taking more rolls for this current jackpot to grow.
Any expert on the subject?
Is it the federal rates or something like that?
Either way, I would still be happy to win it regardless of the number of rolls.
I would even forget what roll it's at
