Prison guard wins $54 million lottery jackpot
I used to not worry about remaining anonymous upon winning a jackpot but after seeing some of the horror stories lately, I may change my mind. I think Ms. Fearon, being employed in a prison should have definitely attempted to maintain her anonymity. Given her circumstances, I bet the Lottery and State would have accomodated her to some degree. There is a method to the madness on television. And it's in league and lockstep with the aims and agenda of a certain political movement. T

New... Curse of the lottery II
Exactly. I was watching an episode of Lottery Changed My Life and the wife of the husband (the one who won) said it was like a curse because they now live hours apart Monday through Thursday because he has to work so far away since they lost their money and couldn't find a job anywhere near them. They lost their money because he put like $200,000 towards his brothers invention (pole hangers for plumbers?) and then something like $2,000,000 towards a hotel with some other guy he didn't ev

If you have to appear on either Oprah or The Lottery Changed My Life...
Luckily, I live in a state where a person can collect lotto prizes anonymously. But even if I couldn't remain anonymous, there is no doubt in my mind I would absolutely want to win the lotto. To make sure I don't become a target, I'd make it known I won't keep large amounts of cash or precious metals in my home. I'd make people think that most of my wealth is in the banking system or tide up in long term investments that I don t have immediate access to even if that's not really the case.

Statistically Speaking - QP's and PP's
nope, but you just handed them another excuse of why they can't though. lol it's an anonymous board that contains a block feature, so that possibility can be controlled. it certainly isn't the excuse of not wanting to share their hard work, because they can pick a 3 number game that is parimutuel, not split the pot (so to speak), etc, and they can still showcase their skills . really.......it's because no one can (so far that i have witnessed anyway). a semi-apology for flooding the

Do you believe in "lucky" stores?
i realize in this rediculous overboard politically correct world we have steamrolled toward, that the following statement isn't gonna fly right with some.......but transparent as i be........i could care less (as God knows my heart)... i have yet to see any white person go into the store i purposefully target to buy my 1QP. and that's part of the reason i do go there, because i realize how that store would benefit from what my destiny is, based on demographics not exactly lending itself to

Crooks stealing instant Scratch off tickets From Conveince Stores in NYC
I read the news a few days ago but now that these creeps still havent been caught I have decided to post the story. Form what I read a few days ago the scam artists works the scam similar to this... The crooks walk into a store that sells lottery and asks for a large amount of scratchoff tickets to purchase. Once the Lotto clerk gets them puts them onto the counter he then distracts them by asking a question such as Can you please get me some rubberbands . Once the Lotto clerk has their back

The morning after you win & your job
What I would do depends on which ticket wins. I buy my own tickets plus I operate pool with my coworkers. If a ticket in the pool wins, of course I'll be going in to work. I'll have to split it with 13 people so whether or not we have enough to retire on all depends on how big the jackpot is. My boss is in her 60s and near retirement eligibility, so she could probably go right away, as is another member of the group. How we'd collect it would of course depend on the group. If they want to

Shared $18 Million Jackpot, Slim Pickings? - What's Your Opinion: Fate, Random, ...?
I'm just curious what the rest of you think about this situation... On December 27, 2000 there were two different winners of the PowerBall, one in Delaware (anonymous family group of 9) and one in Louisiana (individual chose personal #'s not QP). The numbers that won it were: 15, 22, 24, 32, 39 with PB of 18. About seven years prior, on 4/3/1993... those exact same numbers were drawn (down to the PB #). So far, this is the only time all 5 matched with a winner. One other had no winner.

Lottery winnings and divorce
If you could not claim anonymously, it might be better to have a trustworthy family member (ie mother, father or sibling) claim and work out an agreement to be gifted money or be part of a family limited partnership. Pennsylvania allows for a trust to claim, but they will name the beneficiaries of the trust as part of public record. So if one of the beneficiaries is in a divorce, they might be S.O.L. You have a year to claim in PA. Maryland allow anonymous claims, but 182 days to claim.

New To Forum - Anonymous question - regarding your place of residence
I'm reasonably certain that the USPO won't let you live in a post office box, and the NY DMV knows what your friend's real address is. You can use one as your legal mailing address, but it's definitely not the address the lottery will use in releasing information about what town you live in. If you live in West Podunk and don't want the lottery to tell people that's where you live you'll have to actually move somewhere else. So far I haven't needed to find out, but I'm guessing that if you live
