A question for the financial gurus
it depends on someone's risk tolerance. Everyone is different. It's not only lottery winners who can take advantage of this but people who have lots of money. Facebook founder and billionaire, Mark Zuckerberg refinanced his 6 million dollar home to a 30-year adjustable-rate loan starting at 1.05% in 2012.

The idea is, if you're paying 1-4% interest on your mortgage, you may be able to get 5% or better i

Now accepting Bitcoin payments
Bitcoin is not without its risks and scandals. I've been following the Mt. Gox Bitcoin scam/scandal/hack/etc and this illustrates one problem for Bitcoin.
From the wiki:
Mt. Gox was a Bitcoin exchange based in Tokyo, Japan. It was launched in July 2010, and by 2013 was handling 70% of all Bitcoin transactions. In February 2014, the Mt. Gox company suspended trading, closed its website and exchange service, and filed for a form of bankruptcy protection from creditors called minji sais

NY hospital orderly wins $20 million lottery jackpot
3rd line down was the winner...would have been nice to know in the article.
Qp's - nothing wrong with them at all...when it can win a multi-million dollar jp, I'll play them anyday!
Wonder how the clerk thought it was just a million? Wouldn't it tell them on the screen??
Excellent win and a HUGE WTG!! Great story...especially the part about sleeping with the ticket under his pillow.
He probably didn't sleep at all.

Homeless Lottery Winner...This video may bring tears to your eyes
Not sure your figures are correct; I read an article about revenue from YT ads a few months ago and it's not as lucrative as that. The Charlie Bit My Finger vid generated over four hundred million hits and made something like $150k. It also depends on how the channel was monetized and what ads are displayed. That said, that is a popular channel and the video probably will make some cash above and beyond the thousand bucks given away. There's a YT calculator that gives a general idea...not sure h

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
Thanks for requesting that information at least. Not sure the details of how the winner for a 2nd Chance drawing is selected, supposedly they have some kind of auditors in place to ensure integrity. But still, people who play each believe they each entered what they feel is a lot to their own standards.
A high school janitor won the $2,000,000 Extraveganza 2nd chance back in 2010. In the article he thought the telephone call from the CALottery was a prank/hoax about winning $2 million, so peo

What Are The Chances?
You know I read the article about the little guy who lived in the assisted living home that had won the lottery from a scratch off ticket, from a game he played and chased til he won.. think it was some ticket where you win so much for life and he took the cash option.
What do you think the chances are? He bought only that game, all the time from the same store (so they said) for months I think it was, til he won the jackpot ticket... what's the chance that that store would end up with the wi

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
I read an article where they interviewed a former lottery security official from a large state (didn't disclose which state). They were discussing fraud and who knows where actual winning tickets are being sold and when. He mentioned that there are many layers of checks and balances to ensure integrity of its scratchers, and in order to perpetuate fraud (e.g., sending your friends to buy entire rolls of tickets at specific retailers to win top prizes) you need at least 6 people from the gaming c

Powerball winner dies penniless, 12 years after winning $27 million
Yep, and if the few pics I browsed through are recent, it makes me wonder if she's still not using. I hope not, esp. b/c of the baby. Her other child looked healthy and well-cared for, so maybe she's clean. I pray she is.
Yeah, some of those comments annoyed me, esp. one saying we shouldn't have criticized him for what he bought. Well, sorry, other than the cars, house and jet, it was crap and probably depreciated 75%+ as soon as he walked out the door with the stuff. I really wasn't criti

Powerball winner dies penniless, 12 years after winning $27 million
Jammboogie,
Yeah, I think the article is missing a few things too. One of the first things he did was fly a bunch of friends to Vegas.
He also said, You can't fix stupid .
He lost the house in Florida because he didn't pay the association fees.
I don't find it hard to believe he lost everything but there's certainly a message here.
